I don't really agree with "unplayable", but most major patches to both games have had more bugs than I'd wish.

Please do opt-in (Early Access) DLC and opt-in patch as beta. For at least a week.

This way eveyrone will be happy :)

Exactly. This has worked very well for point releases, bringing up several bugs in the beta threads alone. No reason not to do it for DLC-patches as well, even if not the DLC itself.

As others have said, it's not fair to compare CK2 DLCs with EU4 DLCs. EU4 holds a grand advantage over the quality and quantity of content in its DLCs because, unlike CK2, it does not have only 4 men working on it.

CK2 not only has 4 people working on it, but they are not all equally specialized. I think only 1 is a programmer, 1 is an event scripter, and the other 2 I reckon do the art and history. But I may be wrong. Charlemagne is a good DLC considering that all the major mods for CK2: EK, HIP, CK2+, LI, MiddleEarth, and many others, have teams of modders a lot bigger than the CK2 development team. Really, prolly would be better for CK2 if they asked the modding community to help them out. There are a lot more of Wiz's out there doing awesome work on mods.

So by comparison you shouldn't be so worried about EU4 DLC release. EU4 has a team that puts CK2 to shame in numbers alone, not to mention they got Wiz working on the AI of EU4. So ye know, be glad, stay hopeful, and understand the poor guys working on CK2. They are doing their best with the limited resources they have.

So, they started to mess up the CKII patches, too?
Well, that settles it, got to expand my boycot to Paradox as whole, not just the EUIV branch.

As for AoW (and Republic before), I stopped getting DLCs rigth away. If, at all, I grab them a month later on a good sale for less cash and less bugs.

I like that you're boycotting EU4, and yet you are hanging out in the forum. Love and hate are truly two sides of the same coin.

Think of it like this: The launch is the betatest. If you don't want to participate don't buy or play before the hotfixes. Not really a good policy though.

Your boycotts dont really work..

Anyways, its much cheaper for paradox to release buggy dlc and let gamers find all the bugs and post them in forums instead of play hours and hours to find bugs themselves. Its probably going to be a buggy release, but patches will fix it when people will report all the bugs.

+1 to no bugs.

I got a bunch of games planned for opening week that will start up and it would really suck if bugs ruined the fun.

It wasn't just Charlemange but the new patch released by the CK2 team had tons of bugs, like the Med faces having weird glitchy eyes. I wouldn't say AoW would cause all the bugs but the new patch coming will certainly have at least one huge bug or glitch.

And to OP, don't expect too much from PDox. Ever since 1.6 with WoN I've pretty much lost hope on how PDox handles things. Just expect the usual ridiculous changes that no one asked for and still not fixing bugs that've been here since launch.

What are the bugs there since launch?

Unplayable and broken are those words that have unfortunately completely lost their meaning, as people throw them out like candy. Charlemange does introduce some annoying bugs and features that need tweaking, but it's not even close to being unplayable/broken.

Both of my tribal games have ended with my massive tribal armies despawning in the middle of a war and my ERE game is on hold because after you load the game Viceroyal titles cannot be handed out. Broken and unplayable is a fair description to me at least, despite it being very fun otherwise.

Yes it is, can you not play the game because decadence isn't working? Does it make it impossible to play as a muslim now? sure decadence won't harm muslims anymore but we manage to play next to other blobs that don't get destroyed by religion based anti blobing mechanics so I dont really see it as game breaking and frankly if you don't break the game or make it impossible to play a certain group I consider you minor
Abbasids controlling half the map and the Umayyads conquering western Europe isn't exactly 'minor'. People don't have to get so defensive over the game, no one is saying its terrible, it just had an exceedingly crappy launch, most of my games collapse to a bug within a generation or two.

Personally I don't touch pdox games after a new patch/dlc wave at least till first hotfix/open beta patch & mod update/fix.

For CK2 post charly that was like a week or smth. Since then I am enjoying it greatly.

I'm not saying this is necessarily indicative of sound release policy on the part of Pdox, but people should recognize the trends and adapt accordingly.

Or waste time whining on the forums, that works too.

This thread doesn't seem to be serving any other purpose but to complain about Crusader Kings II in a forum not related to that game. Thus I close it and ask anyone with opinions on Crusader Kings II to post these in the designated forums. Or if you have anything about Paradox Development Studio in general, there is a forum for that too: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?720-Paradox-Development-Studio
