When examining bloodlines in the ledger, I was momentarily confused while searching for a Khan - and have since discovered that he has been posthumously revised to a viceroy.
Bulgaria is currently a viceroyalty in my game state, The founder of "Blood of Atilla" for the game, however, was a Khan.
I note that the culture of the title is correct - the game posthumously titles him as a Viceroy, which is what I imagine a Bulgarian-cultured kingdom viceroy would be called, whereas the current owner of his title is an Exarch, being the Greek-cultured denomination for a kingdom viceroy. So, culture is retained by posthumous titles, but not viceroyalty status.
History has been rewritten.
