I started up a game that I begun with patch 1.07. I updated to 1.08 today and noticed de jure drift is going backwards. In one year, England went from "Being incorporated into the Roman Empire (87/100 years) to "Being incorporated into the Roman Empire (85/100) years". So in one year it made a two year shift and in the wrong direction.

There are no independent states left in the game. I own everything, so there can´t possibly be that some province slipped away and became independent.

Has de jure drift changed completley since the last patch? Or is this a bug?

Who are you in-game.
If i remember correctly if a duchy has started de jure drift when it goes to a new holder it must first reach 0 years and then start counting in favor of the new holder.
So lets say that duchy A had reached 50/100 to get incorporated in kingdom X.
If kingdom Y gets control of A you will have to wait 50 years to start incorporation(the indicator will count backwards showing incorporated in kingdom X 50,49,48 etc) and then a new indicator will appear with the new holder starting from 0/100 years

This works like this so in case you lose control of the duchy for some years and get it back later, you won't have to start from scratch

Also are you sure it was 2 years???Bc the indicator shows rounded numbers. So if it could have been 1 year and some days

My primary title is emperor of the roman empire. The king of England is my vassal and been so since (almost) the beginning of the game. My secondary titles are Emperor of The Holy Roman Empire (which I guess will never incorporate for some reason), the titular title of King of Nubia, titular title of Golden Hord, and titular title of Ilkhanate. I have given away all other kingdom titles to family members and there are no more independent states left in the game.

The reason I keep playing is that I wanted to incorporate the whole map de jure into the Roman Empire. So this is very disappointing.

Make sure that one of the king of England's vassals isn't now under another vassal, the fact that the king may not control the whole kingdom even though you still control it may cause issue with the de jure drift, but it's hard to say without a savefile to look at.

I loaded up an earlier save and the drift goes backwards two years every year. Not only for England, but for all kingdoms.

One vassal in the de jure kingdom of England belongs to the king of Lotharingia. The king of Lotharingia is my vassal. So in other words the de jure system has changed, since this was not a problem in 1.07. It is also strange that the drift goes backwards two years every year.

A 2 year backward change every year is normal for reverse drifting. Are you sure that this is not the case here? Reverse drift occurs when say a Duchy that had been drifting to a Kingdom is now de facto part of a new Kingdom. Say that it had been drifting into Kingdom A for 20 years and now through conquest is de facto part of Kingdom B. It will reverse drift for 10 years (2/year) first before starting its normal drift (1/year) into Kingdom B. It's confusing because the game interface doesn't tell you in which direction it's drifting - you can only tell by looking at the new value on Jan 1.

since there were some changes in de jure drift sytem with new system it is not surprising that it can hurt inter-versions compatibility.

I know how reverse drifting worked in 1.07 (except I did not know it was 2/year and not 1/year). But in my case it has nothing to do with duchies drifting into new kingdoms. As the Roman Empire I own everything on the map. There are no independent states left. Before I patched the game, everything was therefore drifting into the Roman Empire. So why would England and all other kingdoms start to drift away from Rome, when they all are my vassals and therefore part of the Roman Empire?

I'm pretty sure the reverse 2-year drifting isn't a bug. It happened in 1.06 as well, and it sort of makes sense.

Well if it isn't a bug than it is stupid design: A kingdom drifts into an empire as long as all county are direct vassals of the empire. When at least one county is held by a vassal of another vassal-kingdom than the effect is reversed? Although all of the land is part of the realm one way or another!
Why does this make sense?
