If I create a custom king-level title, as soon as I reload the savegame, the de-jure status under the empire disappears.
That's what happened:
I created the kingdom of Prussia, based on the duchy of Prussia. It automatically was put under the Wendesian Empire de-jure territory (I guess the custom kingdom copies the de-jure status of the duchy from which it's created).
I saved the game and left.
When I restarted the game, the Kingdom of Prussia didn't belong to any empire, it was grey in the de-jure empire view of the map and it didn't show any de-jure Imperial liege in the title description.
I quit the game, quickly modded the defines.lua to set the de-jure drift to happen in only 2 years (to make a test) and reloaded the savegame. Since there was no Emperor of the Wendesian Empire, I assigned the title to myself by using the console and I waited two years, until the kingdom of Prussia returned under the de-jure territory of the Empire.
I saved the game and resigned. After reloading the savegame, the Kingdom of Prussia was again grey.
Facts:
1) I made other tests with other custom kingdoms and the problem was the same. The tests were made without loading mods.
2) Titular Kingdoms already listed in the landed_titles.txt don't have this problem, so I guess it's related to some characteristic unique to the custom titles.
3) I have a cheat mod that allows to assign a county to the de-jure territory of a duchy, duchies to the de-jure territory of a kingdom, and kingdoms to empires. In this way I can skip altogether the drift period and instantly create new de-jure entities.
The custom duchies to which I assign a few counties lose their status of de-jure dependance under the assigned kingdom as I reload a savegame. That demonstrates that the problem is related to custom titles, also at a duchy level (which can't normally happen, since counties de-jure drift is not allowed in the unmodded game).
I read the savegame file and I noticed that the de-jure liege is indeed described under the custom title. It's just not loaded. Odd.
