Does anyone have any experience with deactivating a tech already researched by the target country, or any experience with activating a tech previously deactivated by event/tech?

I believe you can certainly activate a tech that was set as deactive in the inc file, for example. Not sure about deactivating something already known as to how that impacts in game.

A simple test indicates that deactivating an already researched technology has no effect whatsoever.
Unfortunately, however, a deactivated once available tech does not seem to be possible to reactivate.

Mm... the only exclusion I see, are doctrines: when you choose another branch, they're deactivated, but when you abandon it, they're activated again. It's hard to use this.. put, perhaps, possible.

Unfortunately, one cannot abandon doctrines by event either.

Yes, but we can make player to do it...

For example.. there's event A, which happens in 1950.
There's doctrine B, which gives +15 Morale, and player has it from start, and it makes doctrine C unavailable.
There's doctrine C, which gives +5 Morale, and player doesn't like it, so at the beginning, it's unavailable..
And there's secret tech D, which gives +50 Morale, and it's based on doctrine C and event A, and it's quite easy to discover.
Then, when event A happens, most players will be likely to abandon doctrine B, and discover C and D.

Well, I understand, that's not the best idea.. but, perhaps, it can help?..
