There is a thread below about switching Naval doctrines, but i couldn't make any sense out of it, so i'm asking this.

Being pretty inexperienced at creating custom scenarios, when i created DDR and FRG in a '36 scenario, i had to liberate them from the USA and USSR. However, the DDR must have the German Tech tree, for the purpose of my game. FRG is fine, the USA tech tree isnt bad.

But how do i switch the DDR Land Doctrine Tree from Human Wave to the Default German one.

**If its not too much trouble, i would like it if they had it the same way as the germans would start the game with**

"As the Germans would start the game with?" I don't understand this part.

If you wanted to give DDR the German tech tree, the best way to do it is to simply edit the savedgame and scenario files. I would suggest starting up some version of the game, for easy reference later; just start a random game, or bring up the DDR game you wanted to change, but you don't need to actually do anything in the game. Instead, go into the savedgame folder and do a search for tag = DDR, until you see an entry that looks like this:

country = {
tag = DDR

...this would be the start of East Germany's entry in the savedgame file. From there, do a search for "techapps", and you should see a whole bunch of numbers. These numbers represent the techs East Germany currently has.

From here, leave the savedgame file up and go over to the tech files, located in HoI2/db/tech/land_doctrines_tech.txt. Write down the tech numbers for Mobility Focus, Human Wave, and all those other Soviet land doctrines (check with your game to make sure you get them all), then go back into the savedgame file and remove those numbers from the techapps entry. Now, again referencing your game if you wanted to be sure, replace these tech with the ones corresponding to the German tech tree.

Once they're in, save the savedgame file, relaunch HoI2, and see if the changes stuck.
