then open up '1936.eug' scenario file and use 'replace' to replace all GER for DDR. If you dont want DDR as head of the axis scroll down a little to alliances. Make ITA head of the Axis and place DDR in comintern, like so...

voila, germany has turned into DDR.

Should you wish to have both Germany and DDR you will have to create a new .inc file giving them the provinces you wish (use F12 'showid' to get province numbers.) remember to delete the provinces from germany inc file. Add the inc file to the 1936.eug scenario file (at the bottom) and add DDR to selectables at top of 1936.eug file.

Just be aware that many leaders do not begin in 1936 so you either have to knock some of their starting dates down to 1936 or suffer having a few leaders to begin with.

or you type the germany surrenders event that breaks them up into east and west and the DDr is the west, and then make the terriorial demands on Nazi Germany and now you're the DDR

Yes giving DDR some of the germen leaders may be a good idea, providing you don't have Nazi GER existing as well. If you do, I would follow my initial suggestion and knock some of the leader start dates down to 1936.
