Gold mines do deplete in reality though; and your primary mine depleting was a very serious thing historically. I might be misremembering, but didn't the Tirol mines at least partially deplete in the 1600s and causing the Austrians problems?
I'm not arguing that. Of course they deplete, as do
all mines.
It... does. Depletion halves the production in the province.
Sorry, I'm not too familiar with it, as I've avoided even the possibility of it happening since the system came out.
Does it half the production or the production development? Because those are two different things. One would have higher development costs associated.
For example: say I have a gold mine at level 10 that I spent ~1k monarch points to get there (pulling numbers out of the air here) that produces 10 units of gold that gets turned into some amount of money. It depletes so that I now only produce 5 units of gold. But does that depletion happen as a malus to production, or does it cost the
development in half. Because one way I have to go from, say, dev 10 to dev 20 to produce the same amount of gold, whereas in the other I have to go from dev 5 to dev 10.
