Micah Goodman 2 said:I understand why some people have come out flaming the idea of a booster pack when HoI DD has a few serious flaws remaining. My only concern is this; DD added several new features to HoI 2. The largest one being espionage. That feature has been woefully underwhelming in execution. Far from adding an enjoyable new dimension to the game it adds more of a click of doom feel. Send spy, click. Send spy, click. Send spy, click. Until you forget later in the game to keep sending spies. If they ever make a HoI 3 I hope they overhaul that system. Most of the other enhancements were done in a slip shod manner.

hellfish6 said:Yes. This is what keeps me from embracing this new booster pack whole heartedly. The espionage system was, IMHO, a dismal failure. For all the effort it required, it provided very little enhancement to the game playing experience. 99% of the time, I only use espionage to rid myself of enemy spies. Anything more than that and I simply don't bother. It wasn't worth the time or hassle.
I just worry that future improvements will be like this - sound nice on paper, but in execution really not that much of an improvement.
JASGripen said:I don't agree with the espionage system being cumbersome. Of course, it can be made better, but I don't see it as a failure. Espionage is most useful before The War, then it becomes more of a secondary thing to worry about. So forgetting the spies later on in the game isn't much of an issue if one asks me.

Their new expansion pack to Galactic Civilization 2 called "Dark Avatar" is a true expansion to the game, that significantly altered gameplay of the original game, making it an entirely new experience. I think Paradox should learn a little from them about how you could and should enhance a game.

Now that it is in HOI: DD, espionage could do with automation.
GeorgeAmbush said:I agree, it's a great game, but isn't Paradox and Stardock affiliated somehow ?!

If paradox are really going to want me pay for such a mini-patch, well, they're dead-wrong. This is going in the totally wrong direction in my opinion.

Paradox needs mony to pay wages. They don't work for free.
