I don't know why people are being so negative about it. It's a mini expansion pack, not a patch. It is said to add content beyond those of a patch level.

I don't expect paradox people to work for free, at least if it is not a bug correction.

It will give us something new to play before HoI 3. I like it a lot.

And I'm also satisfied by the current atention on HoI, a new patch, a booster pack. It seems they are getting ready to start HoI III! :D

But I agree that a 1933 scenario is better in Hoi, then in VR.

There's already a very detailed 1933 mod for HOI2 available free (originally in French, not sure if it's translated fully yet). So, this would probably be a bit of a waste of time and effort developing for an the expansion...

I can't say if I will buy it, give me more information then I will see. For starters :

- New attachments for Naval units, do you scrap or upgrade those old ships?
- Land units can now be built with brigades already attached.

Those changes, like said before don't make it a bit interesting and I'm not one bit excited about it. I want a game that makes a bigger jump then HoI2 to DD was. I mean my favorite part about DD was the experience stars, thats it, other then that it was a rather lackluster update which could of easily been replaced by HoI2 vanilla with one patch to fix some bugs.

I would like to see a Victoria Revolutions type update where one can drop 10 or so dollars for an enjoyable experience without encompassing the cost of a whole game. Seriously I think $20 is pushing it if its of the same vein of Doomsday.

If you look at the current state of Doomsday, it is far from polished, out of the box it was playable and little has changed with 3 patches. There are still some serious game breaking flaws in the game that can be fixed, and I think they should be fixed something I think Paradox, a respectable company should do.

I have a bad feeling that the bugs and lack of an AI currently in DD will never be fixed and instead Paradox will make a situation that one is compelled to shell out more money not for the new features in Armageddon but for the fixes offered over DD because that is the only way to play a good game of HoI.

But to be honest, I've spent money on scummier deals and the amount of time I spend on Paradox titles gives the merit to shell out a measly fee even though I have a hunch I'm getting ripped off.

I would prefer if Paradox made a 1.4 patch, who fixed the many bugs/wads that still exist (and that 1.3 added to).

Then the modders and community could have a solid base to have build on.
There is a lot of people who put in alot of effort in their mods, so I suggest leaving it to them.

That said, I think it would be a good idea if the modding community started to cooperate more instead of "everyone" making their own mods (where many seems half-finished).

oh, and consult us before making a patch please? So the bugs that we, the players, care about gets priority before rather unimportant stuff.
And employ blue-emu! :)

The announced "new features" don't sound particularly exciting - particularly in comparison to what was included in Victoria: Revolutions. With any luck, they're keeping some exciting game-changing features secret, although there isn't really anything in major need of reform in the current build of HOI2 (unlike Victoria).

I'd imagine the main selling point would be the two alternate history scenarios, of which I'd guess one would be a Nazi victory in 1945. Hopefully these will be less broken than the "Doomsday" scenario, however...

I agree with your sentiments.

As with doomsday scenario, a nazi victory or whatever is still nothing to get that excited about, its something any modder can do if so inclined. To ask money for that is a bit too much IMHO.

For a booster pack to warrant a cash outlay (even a small one) I think it really does need some real new features, not just tweaks and minor changes such as new brigades or whatnot.

The intelligence feature of DD was a step to that end, although I didnt think it added that much personally. But the bottom line is- that feature is worth money- its something a modder cant do, adding new scenarios isnt really worth much, if anything.

The tech tree was different. You had a separate electronics tree in HOI. New discoveries here unlocked new things to research in the naval tech tree. This could be a new radar that improved stats on naval units. You had to carefully consider when to upgrade your ships. How many levels of upgrades do you wait for before you upgraded?
A ship that you upgraded was placed in the production cue, and was unavailable until it was finished.

A brigade system sounds more like something you first produce, and then slap on a selected ship.

I wonder if there will be several levels of upgrade and how it will work...

But those features listed is in no way shape or form to warrant shelling out some money to buy a booster pack, but we can all assume/hope that is just a small dabble on what they will add.

Technically you can add brigades to any unit in this game though an exploit which is fairly simple to do.

I agree completely with both of HMS Enterprize's post and I hope Paradox takes notice if they havent already.

Any package that solves bug should be called a patch and be free...

I would agree to pay in two differents ways :
- full price for v1.0 and free patches
- discounted price for v1.0 and few bucks for patches

But in no case bucks for something which risk to bring new instability to the game engine.
We are still waiting a HOI2/DD version which allows to play a full game (from '36 ro '45 or more) which will be challenging and not oblige to use console, modify saved games, etc.
Btw, i thought that Paradox team was too busy with EU3???

off course you are right, but that was not my point. I think anything that solves these horrible remaining bugs and will nicely exploit possibilities of the intelligence system is worth my money - wether or not it should be called a pach or an enhancement. It's just worth the money, as it's Paradoxs best game ever made.

So pay more money for a system promised when we bought DD, don't get me wrong I like Paradox and would spend the extra money on merit but that is a little silly.

I don't see why Paradox doesn't talk to the HSR folks and DAIM types and Sprite creators & then throw in to the expansion, or "booster pack" all the little goodies that everyone else has already gone to such work creating...

Personally, I would MUCH rather get a couple different 1936 versions - ie, separate scenarios designed for different players - ie, a 1936 German player version with AI events for GB, USA, Sov to make it more challanging, etc.

I want new leader traits and more units types and models... and more randomness as well as we get to choose our divisions, quality vs. quantity... research cheap fighters or advance but expensive ones...

Any actual indication that this is going to cost more than 5$? I'll buy it either way, and hope they fix the editor/make a moddable map. I think they have just touched on the changes with some luck. I think everyone is jumping to too many conclusions, it will probably include new Cold War Events and the like. Show that last little bit of faith in paradox.

I say give them more credit than you are now. I'm sure they work hard and like us have families to feed.
