Why so many people are so keen on some sort of counters vs sprites war? Personally I never use counters, but should anyone like to add e.g. a new set of counters I would not be trying to prove how utterly pointless that is.

I think those of us on the "General of the Army" end of the spectrum prefer to use counters, because it's more like a tactical thing. Those of us, myself included, on the "I must see a moving graphic to remain stimulated" end of the spectrum prefer sprites. I use sprites.

I never use sprites. I can't make heads or tails of whats in a province with sprites. With counters, I can look at a glance and tell very quickly whats in that province. Of course, 14 years in the Army makes it a bit easier since they use a very similar system.

You mean that is the reason why in doomsday there are less planesprites than in HOI 2?

I just think that´s an effect of Paradox adding the new BOMBER sprites. They are great, but sadly they accidentaly (?) programmed them to eliminate models NAVAL, TACTICAL, STRATEGIC, DIVEBOMBER and TRANSPORTPLANE too if I recall correctly.

Has anyone begged for wide-screen settings? Or just variable resolution in general? By now I’d think most of us use wide screen. Yes I know there is a mod but official support would be nice.

There have been some requests of adjustable screen resolutions but I doubt they include that in this booster pack.

Here's some Statistic on screen resolutions btw:

Code:
The current trend is that more and more computers are using a screen size of 1024x768 pixels or more:
2007 Higher 1024x768 800x600 640x480 Unknown
January 26% 54% 14% 0% 6%

2006
July 19% 58% 17% 0% 6%
January 17% 57% 20% 0% 6%

2005
July 14% 55% 25% 0% 6%
January 12% 53% 30% 0% 5%

This shows that 1024 x 768 still is the most common resolution.

I earnestly doubt that Paradox are good enough coders to give this game sentience enough to choose it's own sexuality. However, I do believe this game is worth at -least- $10, so $5 is a godsend.
I'd like a CD, but if this is the best they want to do, so be it!

1)I'd like to see a fix for paratroopers and air transports to make them actually useful for more than just taking islands. Someone else mentioned that the front usually moved faster than Air Transport ranges, and that's usually the truth, and moving the paratroopers and transports to the frontlines just wastes ORG, and by the time it's back, the front is even farther.

2)1280 x 1024 resolution. PLEASE.

3) Any way to make it so country flags and shields can be swapped out like in Vicky? You know, France goes Commie, and their flag changes? Don't even have to make new flags, just give us the option and most modders will do it themselves.

4) Less hard-coding. Even if it's just an extra .txt file in the db folder, give us more values to mess with!

5) More flexibility in IC Automation. A button that would automatically allocate the proper IC to each slider would be great. If you needed 110.4 IC for Production, you could press a button nearby to get exactly the 110.4 IC needed, taking the needed IC away from non-locked sliders.
