I agree. Forcing someone to listen to bad poetry is definitely going too far...
I mean it's one thing torturing and mutilating people, but poetry? I don't know how comfortable I am with them begging for death.

What is worse? 1 million people being killed on another continent, or someone next to you getting papercut?
The latter one - because you see it with your very own eyes. Whereas the former will never connect with you. Most people cannot at the same time imagine more than 9 objects with any detail.
Yes. That's precisely it.
Murdering 1year old kids is okay.
Explicit torture is not.
Its all about abstraction.
Murders in Ck2 are abstracted - you get a note that someone's carriage was drive over the cliff, and that's it.
With torture, stuff is gonna way more detailed, complete with realistic screams and sounds of bodies being mutilated.
Norse raiders kidnapping concubines is funny, because its just -50 opinion modifier.
Wouldn't be so funny if you were subsequently shown beatings as punishment for escape attempts, teared-eyes beggings to be released, or her smearing herself in her own **** so you wouldn't want to touch her again.
This is not a moral stance, because its just a game. I just don't enjoy certain things. If you do, knock yourself out. All OP said is that he'll never enjoy it, no reason to mock him for it.
Good to know, I hope you will not make careers in law enforcement
Reading is okay, listening is not. Some people are more visual, whereas some react more to sounds.You mean the abstraction part? Oh this part is okay because you only read about a child being smothered in its crib but THIS bit with the breaking celery sticks is appalling.
People don't object to the OP cuz he doesn't like the idea of torture, the idea of concubinage makes me uncomfortable so I tend to avoid it, they're objecting cuz he's moralizing. Worse, he's moralizing inconsistently. If you wanna get your gander up about torture you definitely should get ruffled about murder or rape or war. At least that'd have been consistent. Instead he, and you, evidently, are cherry picking which level of abstraction in a game (which is a huuuge abstraction by definition) is acceptable to YOU and acting like that's somehow an objective moral baseline other people are failing to meet.
Spare me.![]()
Did not read all of his post, but the way I interpreted opening post suggested to me he is just sharing an opinion.That might very well be so, but nobody is forcing the OP to see it with his own eyes.
And going on his last post he seems equally pre-occupied with forcing his own sanitized way of playing of CK2 on others as he is with getting rid of what he considers to be "disgusting content". Why on earth would he include the law-inforcement quip if he weren't.
But newsflash, no one is forcing him to torture people or be creative when executing them.
But rape's okay in AGOT because it's art. :^)You mean the Game of Thrones mod? Cause that's on the forums. Has it's own subforum
I explicitly stated its okay for someone to enjoy it, if that's their thing.
I describe why I (as in me) find something unappealing, and what is my personal line which if crossed would be uncomfortable for me. I explicitly stated its okay for someone to enjoy it, if that's their thing.
And you claim that this is moralising and attempt at objective morality?
You are openly lying.
Did not read all of his post, but the way I interpreted opening post suggested to me he is just sharing an opinion.
If you really think that torturing and mutilating NPCs, engaging in cannibalism and desecrating corpses is fun then you should take a cold hard look at yourselves.
Fair enough.I'm sorry for misunderstanding your intent tho.
Wait, are you being serious here? You're honestly complaining that someone shared his opinion on internet?Then why are you complaining about it, if not to try and establish some sort of change? For the attention?
Why should Paradox give a fuck about what modders do?I agree OP. I'm also very uncomfortable about the blinding/castrating which have been in the game since LoR. I actually contacted Paradox recently to report a mod on steam which gives an option to rape prisoners and they haven't responded so I don't think this is a priority for them. Nonetheless I think this is a terrible direction to take the game in and adds nothing.
No. I was talking about this mod. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=667239651You mean the Game of Thrones mod? Cause that's on the forums. Has it's own subforum
Added punishment, traits and other.
Currently mod adds and corrects:
The probability of falling into captivity, death, and of injuries during the battle;
When you grab all the characters province, where residents, are your prisoners;
Blind and castration are available to all States;
Added punishment "cutting out tongue" and "r_ape" and other;
New Traits: "r_aped", "without tongue", "infertility" and other.
They do have some form in that regard. A mod was pulled from the Stellaris workshop recently for being discriminatory.Why should Paradox give a fuck about what modders do?

While we have people being beheaded and -really- mutilated in Syria and Iraq some people are really arguing over a game. Seriously, the west is becoming too comfortable for its own good. I hope we can get some official war soon so people stop crying over futility. Geez, man. What a dysfunctional generation.
I'm sorry to say it but the DD # 16 was the most disgusting thing I've read on this forum so far (and it's been a few years). What is the purpose of these so called features described there ? Do you really have to include detailed descriptions of torture, executions and mutilation and the mechanisms to inflict them into this game ? And please, don't tell me about historical accuracy. Gaming is about fun, not accuracy. If you really think that torturing and mutilating NPCs, engaging in cannibalism and desecrating corpses is fun then you should take a cold hard look at yourselves.
Anyway after this DD count me out of this DLC. I wonder if I will be able to have any fun from playing CK2 in the future as well. Thank you for this, really, thank you...
What, you want to argue over how bad that is? I don't think there's much argument to be had about that, since everyone agrees with it.While we have people being beheaded and -really- mutilated in Syria and Iraq some people are really arguing over a game. Seriously, the west is becoming too comfortable for its own good. I hope we can get some official war soon so people stop crying over futility. Geez, man. What a dysfunctional generation.
This is CK2 we are talking about. It's a few lines of text, nothing graphic. I don't see why that wouldn't be allowed.No. I was talking about this mod. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=667239651
The developer's description is below.
I'm not massively into censorship but I wonder if the Steam Workshop is the right place for this.
The author used the mod page to advertise his YouTube channel, which judging by the video titles contains mostly xenophobia. Also the mod description was something like "white people only - no multiculturalism here", which further shows how he was pushing his political agenda.They do have some form in that regard. A mod was pulled from the Stellaris workshop recently for being discriminatory.
