This a silly over-reaction of course but I do think we get far more options to torture and schme than to, say, engage in pious acts or any of the many other things which were also very common behaviours among the medieval elite. Would be nice to have religious and cultural stuff of a more benign nature added in the last couple of DLCs.

So most of you are now thoroughly de-sensitized to use of torture, think even this is fun. Good to know, I hope you will not make careers in law enforcement.

Oh, here is a good one for you, I wonder if he would dare to post it a couple of DLC's ago:

I've just found this topic so sorry if it has already been addressed.

That list of things you can do to your prisoners has left me wondering, if you have a woman in your prison (or any man if the ruler is homosexual) can you rape them? Not like taking them as a concubine and keeping them I'm thinking if you've at war with a rival king and you capture his wife and/or daughter you can violate them, or have your soldiers or your hunting dogs do it as a way to annoy your enemy. I'm sure it happened at least once in the game's time frame especially in the more 'barbaric' parts of the world.

Nah, I just realize it's a game. Just like I can shoot people in games, and realize that it's a game.
Actions in a game have zero impact on my feelings in real life, beyond entertainment with the game if it's fun, or boredom if it's not fun. (and some very well written stories that give me feels)

I'm sorry to say it but the DD # 16 was the most disgusting thing I've read on this forum so far (and it's been a few years). What is the purpose of these so called features described there ? Do you really have to include detailed descriptions of torture, executions and mutilation and the mechanisms to inflict them into this game ? And please, don't tell me about historical accuracy. Gaming is about fun, not accuracy. If you really think that torturing and mutilating NPCs, engaging in cannibalism and desecrating corpses is fun then you should take a cold hard look at yourselves.
Anyway after this DD count me out of this DLC. I wonder if I will be able to have any fun from playing CK2 in the future as well. Thank you for this, really, thank you...

We have a Moral Guardian! everyone get your swords, axes and bows and ready your torture racks!

I agree OP. I'm also very uncomfortable about the blinding/castrating which have been in the game since LoR. I actually contacted Paradox recently to report a mod on steam which gives an option to rape prisoners and they haven't responded so I don't think this is a priority for them. Nonetheless I think this is a terrible direction to take the game in and adds nothing.

I think you need to relax. There are lots of options in this game and none of them is forcing you to do things that making you uncomfortable. Not to mention why would you report a mod to a developer? How is that Paradox's responsibility? It is a Role Playing game! You can play your way as an honorable king or else If you desire as well. Just don't be bothered by things you won't even do.

Personally, I would love to capture my annoying rebel brother, who is been destabilizing my country and make rest of his life hell for him. And that is a story! Maybe he would escape and gather support and fight back again or maybe he will be remembered as an traitor and be forgotten or maybe my other vassals would sympathize with captured brother and reminding me his idea still lives on. This is what CK2 is all about. Witnessing randomly created (by our hand or other) stories and playing with them. And all this is never been forced on you by any means.

You seriously have no issue with a rape mod? Given that Paradox banned mods for Stellaris that took out the non-European names from the human name list I thought that they might take an opinion on rape.

I think you should chill and think if you have no problems with distinguishing real life from a computer simulation. Rationalize. Thinking matters, taboos and biases not really.

What is worse? 1 million people being killed on another continent, or someone next to you getting papercut?
The latter one - because you see it with your very own eyes. Whereas the former will never connect with you. Most people cannot at the same time imagine more than 9 objects with any detail.

HAHAHAAHA this is hilarious to me.

So you were cool with the game when you could just plot to murder your 1 yr old nephew so you will inherit the throne, but now that torture is in the game THEY HAVE GONE TOO FAR!!! Hahaha ;)

Yes. That's precisely it.
Murdering 1year old kids is okay.
Explicit torture is not.

Its all about abstraction.
Murders in Ck2 are abstracted - you get a note that someone's carriage was drive over the cliff, and that's it.
With torture, stuff is gonna way more detailed, complete with realistic screams and sounds of bodies being mutilated.

Norse raiders kidnapping concubines is funny, because its just -50 opinion modifier.
Wouldn't be so funny if you were subsequently shown beatings as punishment for escape attempts, teared-eyes beggings to be released, or her smearing herself in her own **** so you wouldn't want to touch her again.

This is not a moral stance, because its just a game. I just don't enjoy certain things. If you do, knock yourself out. All OP said is that he'll never enjoy it, no reason to mock him for it.

Sure, quote the sarcastic part, ignore the part where I explain things.

You mean the abstraction part? Oh this part is okay because you only read about a child being smothered in its crib but THIS bit with the breaking celery sticks is appalling.

People don't object to the OP cuz he doesn't like the idea of torture, the idea of concubinage makes me uncomfortable so I tend to avoid it, they're objecting cuz he's moralizing. Worse, he's moralizing inconsistently. If you wanna get your gander up about torture you definitely should get ruffled about murder or rape or war. At least that'd have been consistent. Instead he, and you, evidently, are cherry picking which level of abstraction in a game (which is a huuuge abstraction by definition) is acceptable to YOU and acting like that's somehow an objective moral baseline other people are failing to meet.

Spare me.

You mean the Game of Thrones mod? Cause that's on the forums. Has it's own subforum
