Have fun!

I would like to say that I want & like DDs. I am fine that they need to work around things and post them when they are ready. Also I have found that the Devs are very willing to deal with people that are civil & friendly. They have taken time to respond to many of my posts even though they know I disagree with some of their design decisions. I would like to thank them for that!
How about a guest DD from Shams?Well, its a little bit of both. I could have PR people write the diaries and they would always be on time
So your company doesn`t have time set aside for that?Well, its a little bit of both. I could have PR people write the diaries and they would always be on time, although with less details and direct dev connection, but its something we in the team feel is important to do. Quite often we don't have time to do it during work hours and end up writing them on evenings and weekends.
I don't think they are all that important for PR reasons, to reach lots of people you need videos these days. This is something we do for the hardcore paradox fan crowd, nobody else is going to read through pages on a game thats months away.
It does maintain interest. Why? I mean, this is literally something they do that doesn't bring the game any closer to completion and actually takes away from the time they have to work on the game.
No matter what they do, some people here will act like World War III has been announced. Ignore lists are your friendThe devs are essentially doing a multi-day mass developer diary in person a PDXCon, and people are still moaning that they don't get a little journal entry?
Perspective, please!
You've got your rose-tinted glasses on, I'm afraid. Remember, for every bug-free classic that's still played today, there was a broken mess that faded into obscurity, or for that matter became infamous. Why do you think Angry Video Game Nerd has racked up so many episodesWhy? I mean, this is literally something they do that doesn't bring the game any closer to completion and actually takes away from the time they have to work on the game.
I've been thinking a bit about the old Lucasarts game Tie Fighter: it was a great piece of work and launched bug-free, still regularly makes the top-ten PC games of all time. Lucasarts didn't do DDs, didn't do DLCs, didn't have regular patching because there was no route by which the patch could reach the people who bought the game (most people with PCs didn't have internet connections in 1994): it just worked. Since it was a DOS game it had its own drivers, and it had to deal with the limited memory (and odd memory systems) of the DOS platform, so this was no mean feat.
Don't get me wrong, I think Paradox are awesome, but I just wonder why a game with the level of perfection of Tie Fighter seems impossible nowadays. Is it the complexity of the coding that must be done? Or the nature of the Windows platform(s)? Or has the whole business of writing computer games for the PC just changed?
Pdxcon is for journalists not for ordinary people. The devs are essentially doing a multi-day mass developer diary in person a PDXCon, and people are still moaning that they don't get a little journal entry?

..... and youtubers....Pdxcon is for journalists not for ordinary people.
So the info gets to you via YouTube or a journalist instead of directly? My heart bleeds for you.Pdxcon is for journalists not for ordinary people.
How much do we actually know of the game? Not all that much. No intelligence, no diplomacy, no detailed information about land combat, no explanation of how the battleplanner will work, most of the technology tree is still unknown, supplies, no information of modding capabilities, no information of any other country than Germany, no information on factions, no information about how stockpiling goods will work(except that we won't have as large stockpiles as in HoI3) and no information about economics.Big props to Podcat for telling us the lowdown - I still reckon we get better treatment from PDS devs than you find anywhere outside of crowd-funded projects (and PDS are still better than some of them!) I know most of us are mad keen on HoI4 and can't wait to wrap our gaming time around it (seriously - how long are many of us going to have to play it before we've spent more time playing it than on the forum prior to it's release?) but deffo no need to get angry - particularly as we're not even losing a DD, we'll just have to wait a bit longer for it
.
Well it should because if you didn't know the journalists are not allowed to show everything they see in addition to that someone telling you something is much worse than seeing it for yourself. So the info gets to you via YouTube or a journalist instead of directly? My heart bleeds for you.
Yes, but only the big ones like Quill18...... and youtubers....
Still not sure what your pointYes, but only the big ones like Quill18.

My point is simple. We get most(almost all) of our information about the progress of the game and its different features from the DDs. Without any DD we don't really know how the game works and may only get vague and small amount of information here and there which are not enough to know anything really. And the amount of information which we have no idea about is massive...Still not sure what your point
is, so I
digress.
No it isn't falling, I just wish that we would soon get more frequent DDs as there is a lot of information which still needs to be covered.Good thing we're still getting a DD, then, only slightly delayed. Guess the sky isn't falling after all.
I remember being really excited for that game. The first (?) Star Wars RTS: it had to be awesome. It was shit. Two words: Force Commander
