The data transmission mission has slightly incorrect failure information if you succeed in transmitting the data but don't evacuate in time before the enemy reinforcements arrives.
In this scenario it gives you a "good faith effort" payout which is fine, but the objectives list shows data transmission as failed, when clearly it hasn't, it almost needs another objective in their like "successfully evacuated" which shows as failed instead.
Also wouldn't it be better if rather than failing the mission at this point to just have said reinforcements actually arrive and either have to be defeated or simply have them hamper your remaining mechs reaching and remaining in the evac point.

Which defeats the point of this type of mission. It isn't meant to be a kill everything mission. Besides the reinforcements are meant to be over whelping. Line say a battalion of mechs. You would just hit withdraw.

Or it could be 4 aerospace fighters and they aren't targeting you... they are going for your dropship.

I would like to see some adjustment around these as well. I have completed one of these, but all of my mechs got destroyed trying to get to the evac. I would call that mission compete. It was a Pyrric victory, but the target was destroyed. From a mercenary management standpoint it was a terrible loss, but the client shouldn't care about that.

The first point of the mission was to place the three locators while under fire, which I did.
The second point of the mission was to wait around to ensure the data was received, which I did.
Essentially at this point I had completed what was asked of me however it is what the failure message said I failed to do.
The last part was to evac to a random point that suddenly appeared on the opposite side to where my mechs happened to be and because one was in a particularly stuck spot I failed by about two hexes to make it back in the turns given.
However all this actually resulted in was me getting paid out about half what I would have, all mechs were still relatively undamaged etc... So from a story telling perspective any overwhelming reinforcements didn't feel very overwhelming....

Mostly the issue is cosmetic, the easiest solution would have been to have the evac as a seperate objective and then show that as the failed objective at the end (although it still feels strange to end up with undamaged mechs from the result of a failed evac...).
Having the reinforcements actually appear was the more complex solution for more realism and was open ended and really anything could be used, it was more just to highlight it all feels a little disjointed when you get a partial victory in that particular mission.

The same thing happened to me when Flashpoint first came out. I figured out how to 'improve' my future attempts so as not to 'fail' again, but what you say about the text is true. The wording doesn't really make sense and it feels off when it happens.

I would prefer to see the mission remain exactly as it is, but with fixed up objectives to make objective fails more in line with what is actually happening with the mission result.

FYI, in your particular case, you could have ejected the one 'stuck' pilot before the timer limit to get a full success (you would still recover the mech, I believe).

Ah I keep forgetting eject is an option in situations like that! To be honest it never actually occurred to me that the reinforcements wouldn't just arrive when the timer ran out, I simply wasn't expecting the mission to just end at that point as there was nothing to indicate this was the case and in some other missions enemy reinforcements do arrive (I much prefer it when they just put the actual reinforcements on the field in strength sufficient to force you to retreat).
I figured I was going to have one round of being shot at and then everyone would be in the evac circle.

I jumped to the same conclusions as you when I did this mission for the first time (and failed the mission as a result). So I completely agree with you that the wording really ought to be changed to be more clear about what is actually going to happen.
