Hello modding community :)

We are looking for someone that is both experimented with DH engine and reliable to join the dev team and help out with bugfixing mainly.
We would like to relieve Martin from such tasks so that he can focus on implementing shiny new features into the engine and bring them to you. :)
As the rest of the team is also very busy with some (hidden :ninja:) plans, a new recruit would be great.

You guys are planning to expand the WWI scenario to lead up to WWII, if I'm not mistaken, right (kind of alluded to this in other threads)? If so, I can see why bug-fixing wouldn't be a priority, haha.

I just wonder sometimes, about what's going on in the DH team?

You start a monthly poll to find out what is the best Mod, and everyone gets enthused with making mods.. which is the whole idea? .. Then .. you try to take one of their best modders from their mod team... into the DH team... Are you not working against yourself here?

.. and still the mods get fewer and fewer, not finished list gets longer.. and still there is no training for modders, to encourage people to mod more, or finish their mods.. the forum seems, to me, to get quieter and quieter, less and less posts... I wonder why?

Uh...it's kind of hard to do mod training. Like most coding, self learning is generally the best (with some help of course if an individual runs into trouble). Mod of the Month is to encourage people to mod more.

I don't think they are working against themselves if they are looking for an extra member. I do think though the community is already stretched in terms of developers/modders with coding knowledge. Why I suggested Fernando to post in AoD/HoI3 thread.

If you want help novapaddy in terms of modding, feel free to ask me or any other modder on the forums.

I see exactly the opposite.
Besides, I don't know any other Paradox games which delivers so much information for modders. Nor do I know a team that is this reactive to questions from the community.
Thus your criticism about us not providing help to the modders is not justified to me.
I think you took the WIF thing too personally. You know it took me 5 years of modding to be where I am now (were I to even be somewhere..). It's okay that you have difficulties when you start modding, it's part of the journey.

FT: on the point of WIF:
I set out to port your WIF mod into the new DH map. I completed exactly that. So, I achieved my goal.
It's like the boxing champ, who retires and has to later start boxing again.. he can never regain his impetus, his yearning, his motivation to the same level again.

Yes, for a short time, I got started with the next leg of the "modding journey", but RL intervened and I REALLY needed to stop "poncing about" with games, and get RL working again, or re-training for RL work (again). So I had to stop. Yes, habit it hard to stop, so I still take a look at the DH forum every day, to see what's going on...

So, back to my point: Let's see, what modders could possibly take the job you are offering: Bizon, Limith, JRHINDO, Supermee... (apologies if I left you out) off the top of my head... so say one of these guys joins the DH team... what happens to his mod? Mod dead? Point made.

Whereas, if there was a Modding School (see Total War forum), you'd already have a pool of talent to choose from....

Bizon joined the DH Team on July 2010. His mod is still around. Point disproved.
On a similar note, I joined the DH Team even earlier and Kaiserreich is still around (even if that's a bit different).

EDIT: Sorry Fernando Torres, I didn't see your post (it wasn't there when I started answering). I agree that we should not hijack this thread, sorry.

Thanks for mentioning me :) As AC points out, I joined DH Team some time ago, even though for most of the time I cannot fulfill the "reliability" criteria (time-consuming job, moving to a new place, etc.) . If DH happened more than 2 years ago, I could easily devote myself fully, helping out DH Team more, plus doing the mod in a couple of months :) For now, I feel that making NWO2 is the most interesting and useful contribution for the game I can make. Sometimes I'm occupied with modding more than I play DH and try out other mods, but I don't feel that the mod community is dying out in any way. I rather see more activity because more and more mods are coming out of painful "converting to the new map" phase and new stuff is added.

Im an application and game programmer myself i use a bunch of languages including c/c++/c# i know how to mod just about anything in HOI2 however its rare if ever i make any kind of mod (usually just improvements to my game rather than waiting for a patch).

Although i did make a nice mod for Crusader Kings which allowed muslims and pagans to be playable 100% and even allowed granting of titles... This was all hardcode stuff in CK so i had to use my assembly skills and reserve engineer the features to create this patch.....

One thing i would really love to help with is the core game itself fixing bugs in code/optimizing/adding new/improving features that kind of stuff my primary focus would be on fixing cheats in multiplayer games and every other possible exploit you can imagine.

I have helped out another game (Superpower 2) and fixed all its multiplayer hacks they (GolemLabs) provided the code the dll that handled game database, server, client relations and i was able to fix all the exploits such as army dupes etc.

If you wish i can show you programs and a game ive made etc.

Im sure you have more than enough devs however if you want a temp/lowlevel dev to fix exploits and glitches etc let me know...

Back on topic i do see a bunch of bugs every so often but i always just work around it... I just had an annoying event 5 minutes ago... I took almost 7 years for my china to get big and finally conqure japan i was 1 island away from annexing them and BOOM an event triggered and a white peace happened automatically totally out of my control... Japan became democratic.... I was in such rage over this i actually deleted the event and continued the game and annexed lol.

Be aware though that this is not a C++ programmer that I am looking for here. But rather someone to help me with softcodding issues (like minor bugs, repetitive tasks, whereas I am working on something else and can't focus on both at the same time).
Thus you need to be aware of the basics of HOI2/DH modding.
If you aren't but still want to help out with bug testing, fair enough. But then, you would be expected to be very reliable and have significant amount of free time.

I dont know if I qualify as my Modding skills might not be up to par with the requirements. Ive done little personal modding for DH Vic2 and 1 and EU3. I would be dedicated and enthusiastic though and can learn along the way.
