Darkest Hour Random Crashes

It's july 1917 and i am playing as Germany. I already defeated Russia & France.
So in about April of 1917 my game crashed? I have experienced a few crashes before, but only while auto saving. They stopped eventually.

I put the game back on and played it until about may 8th and it crashed again. So i tried it one more time. It went until about Late July and crashed AGAIN.

This is getting pretty annoying. This is on DH full by the way. The only mods i have installed are the fallout mod and the world in flames mod.

Its just strange because its not crashing during a specific action, but instead at random times.

Which version are using? Are you using Steam?
Is the game crashing when Siberia appears?

I have experienced similar crashes while playing the World War I scenario as Austria-Hungary which I think have something to do with one of the invents going on during the Russian Revolution. I have the Gamersgate version of the game with the most recent patch.

I'm not sure what version i'm using. I think its in the upper right hand corner? I will check it this afternoon. I suspect I am using the newest version. I just bought it maybe in May.
Yes i am using steam. And its not when siberia appears, but it is after the Russian revolution yes. The soviets are fighting The voulenteer army and all of those other nations that pop up.

The Siberian Government is indeed one of the nations that pop-ups and unfortunately the Steam patch doesn't solve the problem. However, try following the instructions here to solve the problem: http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?536170-Siberian-Government

Now the game is crashing before it even gets to the cut scene -_-

Sorry. I suggest re-installing the game, patching it to 1.01 through Steam, then to 1.01.1 from this forum and apply the fix above.

The fix is not required when using a patch made by us (the patch installer cleans all obsolete files too).

As a general rule to all Steam users I can recommend:
1. Uninstall DH
2. Clean all remaining files
3. Re-download the game from Steam
4. Copy the game to another location, that is not in Windows protected folders ("C:\Games\Darkest Hour" is an example for a good one)
5. Download the latest official or beta patch from this forum
6. Install over the copy you made on step 4
7. Run the game from the new location (step 4) using Darkest Hour Launcher.exe. If for any reason this fails try to run the game using Darkest Hour.exe directly
8. Check if checksums are correct

Now you should have a correctly installed and patched version of the game.

Okay, I'll do that when i get home. Uninstalling the game through steam will not delete any of my saves will it?

I don't know that, but making a back-up before the uninstall is a good idea.

Note that saves made in 1.0 or 1.01(.1) are not compatible with 1.02(.b1)

So it got up to loading to get into a game (After i selected a country, germany if that matters) and a white box popped up and it said
---ERROR (UNKNOWN TRIGGER TYPE) 'which = SOV LINE = 437 file = mods/darkesthourfull/db/events/1914/sov bolsheviks.txt


I did everything you said?

Sorry, but that seems like a bad install. Most probably you missed a step or applied the patch to a wrong folder.

I uninstalled, reinstalled, put a copy in the games file.
I put the game in c:\games\
Then i put the .exe (In the download) over the c:\games\darkest hour

The patch must be installed, not just copied to game folder.

Everytime i try to install it it sais critical error excel file not found though.
I click ignore than it just does not run

Make sure that (1) you copy all game files from Steam folder to your new DH folder and that (2) you install the patch into the correct folder too.

I did both. It still wasen't working, so i downloaded the 01.1 patch and that one is working a lot better. thanks.
