Hello everyone and thank you for the patience as this patch took us a lot longer to complete then we initially planned to.

Nevertheless we're happy to present you the first release candidate of patch 1.04 for Darkest Hour.

You can read more on it in Darkest Hour - Dev Diary #33 - Patch 1.04 beta

Now to the patch itself! :)

General notes
1. Saved games from 1.0, 1.01, 1.01.1, 1.02 and 1.03 versions of Darkest Hour are NOT COMPATIBLE with this patch so you should finish/abandon your ongoing campaigns before switching to this one.
2. The patch will turn the censored German language only boxed version of the game into fully functional all-language version.
3. Most mods designed for 1.03 or older versions will need an update before being compatible with 1.04. We'll post a modding guide to help in the process soon, but for most mods only update to misc.txt will be required.
4. If you find any bugs please report them at the Bug Reports sub-forum, using [1.04 RC1] as a thread name prefix.
5. 1.03 (and older) versions are no longer supported, so if you use those and find a problem please make sure it is reproducible with the latest 1.04 version before reporting it.

Install notes for non-Steam users

1. Make sure you have a clean (unmodified) installation of Darkest Hour. The patch is designed to work with all official Darkest Hour releases (boxed German version, 1.0, 1.01, 1.02, 1.03), but it should work with all previous beta versions too.
2. Download Darkest Hour Unified Patch 1.04 RC1.exe 169 MB (177*887*477 bytes) from one of these locations Mirror1 Mirror2.
3. Start the patch installer program (Darkest Hour Unified Patch 1.04 RC1.exe) and follow the instructions.
4. When proper installed you should have these check-sums:
HVLQ - Darkest Hour Full
LHYB - Darkest Hour Light
RJLA- No mods (Darkest Hour Core)
If this is not the case, then something went wrong and you should start over (uninstall, delete all remaining files, install the main game, install the patch)

Installation notes - Steam users

For steam users, open your steam library.
Find "Darkest Hour a Heart of Iron Game" in the list of your games, then right click on it and select "Properties".
In the Properties, select the Beta tab and from there you can select the new 1.04 beta (remember to choose 1.04_rc1 - Darkest Hour 1.04 RC1 and not 1.02 - Darkest Hour 1.02)!
Just select it and close the properties, the update should begin immediately!

Length of old 1.03 misc.txt: 1141 lines.
Length of new 1.04 beta 1 misc.txt: 1286 lines (1141 + 147 -2).

Optional: Add new file for mission efficiency effects
Copy DH\Mods\Darkest Hour Full\db\mission_eff.csv to your mods folder (so for example to DH\Mods\Kaiserreich for DH 1.5\db\).
This is not strictly necessary as when the file is missing, the DHCore file is automatically loaded (it's needed only if you want to change the default settings).

Thank you very much !

Downloading now then will start a test game. :)

Please can you precise whether we can keep the installed mods in their own folder or we must uninstall and delete them before applying the patch ?

Best regards.

The patch installer won't modify other folders in Mods except Darkest Hour Full and Light. You can keep all other mods there, but most probably those won't work properly until updated to patch 1.04.

Gotta a question ! I`m a steam user and let`s say I use the Properties/BETA/1.04RC1 patch and install the patch, I would be able to return to 1.03 to play my mods without reinstalling the game or the mods ? (I have many mods, totaling in a 20 GB DH folder in Steam so you see why I don`t want to reinstall them )

Yes, of course. Just got to Properties/BETA/ and select "None - Opt out of all beta programs" and Steam will automatically revert it to 1.03 (it still takes a few minutes as it did when you install 1.04 beta).
