I would have suggested even 1999 coz the Kargil War could have been covered but now as the date has been decided so lets stick to it.
There hasn't really been any work done yet, just five pages of discussion on what it should be (for better or for worse).

From this event a very nice and long event chain could be built up. UK, as a democratic country, it wouldn't declare war, if Scottland becomes independent. And it is also a question, how the other countries will react on this event. It would be very interesting..
But Kosovo should not be independent in 2000, and Moldova should be also created as an independent coutry. Inside Moldova there should be a puppet state, which is Transnistria, it has declared it's independence in 1990

Well it was occupied by UN/NATO troops in 2000, so the best way to represent this is to make it either a puppet of the US, or US territory. Unless there is a way to make it controlled by the US but owned by Serbia without having a war.

if it would be agressive, the country could use its "celtic being"
so it could form the celtic union:

Fixed Kosovo! So far no KFOR but that will be added when the map is finished. In 2008 an event will trigger for Kosovo independence, but until then it will remain "occupied" by the USA.

Palestine and Golan... i think that they should be in Israel's possesion but, Golan should be a Syrian national province and Gaza and Jerusalen should also be controlled by Israel but not being also one of their national provinces, that way they get a revoltrisk penalty for those provs. Also Jordania should claim Jerusalen province.

Palestine and Golan should be under control of Israel but there should be some some events (air strikes, bomb blasts etc.) that increase revolt risk .
