So, this is my second topic :D

As you know, I solved my problems with DH running on windows 8. But I would love now to enjoy the "Full Mod" of DH.
Now I play it on its "basic version", I mean DD+ARMA (you can choose). DD has been my first HOI, and by playing all scenarios and trying to play some campaigns I think that I understood the basic mechanics of this game and I just have to develop my own strategy in compatibility with the nation I pick. As I want to learn, I think that first I'll take Germany or USA as they have best techteams, highest IC together with Soviets (but I hate commies :p) and very high manpower, expecially US. But I think that with Germany I can improve my battle on the earth skills, which I own better thanks to the lots of scenarios I played. Then I'll take USA in order to improve my sea skills.

So, with DD I just have to improve, with DH full mode it looks more alien.
I really liked more tech teams if you have high IC and generally more IC for each country, but I am finding in troubles with a lot of other things, such as manpower... it decreases as hell, while on DD it gets higher and higher. Same for money, even if I set more consumer goods.
Then, I can't figure out how to manage the "decisions" board. How does it works? Does it replace the traditional "events" which pop up on HOI2?
So, if you can explain me these features and maybe some other aspect you consider tough, I can understand better.

I tried to play DH full with Germany, just to have a look :)

Unlike events, decisons are events that you choose when to pop up. Man power can increase if you mobolize your army. Generally man power are the least concern for nations like Germany. Use decisions like prolong terms of service act, and partial mobolization to seriously buff the manpower.

I suggest mod the misc.txt before you move on. Change the ORG modifier for sea transport from 0.2 to 0.7. Set Naval vs Air STR damage to 0.25. Enjoy the game.

Just to expand on TK's post a little, Events as you're used to them from other HoI games still occur in DH Full. They are supplemented, however, by Decisions which are in effect Events over which the player exercises some control. If you go to the View Decisions button under the View Map tab you'll find a list of the decisions currently accessible to the nation you're playing - for Germany in the 1933 scenario, for example, the first item on the list should be Economic Recovery Policy. If you then mouse over that decision you'll find a description of the historical circumstances it represents and a list of the effects that enacting it will produce.

The fact that a decision is accessible does not necessarily make it available, however. For it to be available a number of pre-conditions must be satisfied, and in the top left corner of the decision bar you'll see either a red cross or a green tick indicating whether or not these have been met. The Economic Recovery Policy bar should show a red cross, and mousing over that will bring up a list of the pre-conditions that need to be fulfilled before you can actually enact that decision. By deciding whether or not to set about fulfilling those pre-conditions the player can these exercise some control over whether or not the decision event actually occurs or not, and when. One of the subtleties of DH Full, and one that you don't get to appreciate until you've bungled your way through a game or five, is how to use the decisions to best suit your overall strategic design.

Apart from that, the best advice I can offer, general, is to spend some time with the manual. In my view it's by far the most informative, best organised, and most clearly expressed manual produced for any HoI game. It will help you unlock most of the intricacies of the system and save you from frequently banging your head against solid objects.

But you're ok with playing as Nazis?

But yeah, these guys have pretty much covered it, and I also suggest you should get comfortable with the misc. file.
Don't worry, Mao killed more.

But you're ok with playing as Nazis?

If we have to start a political OT, well, I'm right-oriented with some authoritarian and nationalist features, but to explain good my ideas would require a lot of space. And I don't want to start a political topic in this forum, I don't know how much mods would appreciate it :p

And also, I would like to see if my theories about how Germany could win the war are good or not. For this reason, and also because I'm patriot, then I'll play Italy with some "corrections" to Mussolini's actions. For example, taking Malta immediately!

So, I thank you a lot for your suggests. Except what you told me, are mechanics similar to Doomsday? :)

Don't worry, I understand - and I'm not trying to start a political debate on the DH forum, just thought I should point out the irony of it.

Edit: Also, if you're going to play a game as Italy - make like 4-8 NAV bombers, they are pretty OP at the moment, but the RN in the Mediterranean are like fish in a barrel when Naval/Port strike them.

Oh, sorry! :) So, a question which came up to me... is there a way to restore in DH Full mod the original HOI2 map? I mean, with only the 2 big provinces of elbing and konigsberg divided from germany? The new map is not very comfortable

Not as far as I know, but the new map has its advantages: like being more representative of reality, plus I think it is designed to be optimal for the AI. The smaller provinces of DH Full also make it harder to block huge swathes of land with unrealistically small forces.

I think DH light is good for that. I could be wrong.

If you will play with DH Light or DH Core, i would suggest you to use this mod : http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/showthread.php?488233-SMEP-6.0-for-AoD

That mod covers so many historical-ahistorical scenarios.
