Darkest Hour does not want to start on windows 10

Hello dear friends, Today I purchased Darkest Hour and when I tried to load it up (launcher menu works fine, patch 1.05.1) it puts up this error

Yeah. I've tried running in compatibility mode, all the steam reinstall and verification stuff, and looked on the forums for fixes which I have tried and all have failed. I cant get any more information on the error and have tried windowed mode. PLEASE HELP ME!

With patch 1.05.1 there are no known issue with W10. IIRC compatibility mode and having Direct Play enabled as legacy component is enought to play the game.
Try again with those settings.

Ok, that hasn't worked but I have after using the compatibility mode settings found this error

my computer has Intel(R) HD Graphics as the display adapter (its a Lenovo laptop)
Is there any fix for this?

That's weird.
Did you try disabling the intro video from the launcher?
If that doesn't work, try checking some settings in your Intel card. IIRC there are no known issue between 1.05.1 and Intel Cards, so just check the settings.
Just to be sure, have you installed 1.05.1 properly? Did you use Steam beta system?
