Just finished a nice run where I got the Dark Lord and Jihad Sultan achievement with the same starting character- Yahya of the Idrisid Sultanate in 867.
He starts in his early 20s, and I got lucky and rolled an Elusive Shadow education. I took the Intrigue focus at game start, and never looked back.
During my time in the Satanists, I managed to avoid the horrific health traits, and picked up tons of intrigue boosting ones instead. I didn't think they would let me leave the Satanists, but nobody tried to kill me or induct me back in. I even got to keep my Cat Familiar during my run as an Assassin!
I picked up enough piety during my long rule, that an alert said I could create the Shia Caliphate title, which I did just before becoming Grandmaster of the Assassins.
I admit cheesing the last part- I was the heir to the Grandmaster, then I noticed he was imprisoned. I thought, it would be a shame if someone were to kill him while imprisoned
. Then I noticed that he was in MY prison. There was a be-heading later that same day
Long live the Caliph Assassin Yahya! (probably not since my son and heir is also a member of the Assassins).
