Dar al-Islam: Taking a Muslim Emir through two games, from 867 to 1820

I'm going to do a little work combining the Ottoman and Roman empires in the game files - names of armies and ships and the like, mostly. But also, with the Kalmen Empire being the most technologically advanced nation on Earth, it just seems strange to have a 25% penalty to technology costs (Ottomans tech group). I'm thinking about cutting that to 15%, but then, I don't want to have a huge advantage over all of Europe. It might be nice to engineer the slow decay of the Kalmen Empire through game mechanics (and also nerf myself, since I am balls-out destroying everything in CK II right now)

But I really want to see 'Muslim Roman Empire' plastered across the world map in EU IV, instead of 'Kalmens', like I see now (having tested it out). How would I go about that?

You can get Eastern or even Western tech group if you have both Rome and Constantinople (in general having great cities counts) and your realm tech level is high enough. That would mean playing right up close to the end of the CK2 timeline in a relatively peaceful manner, first to not blob too much, and second to consolidate and build up your baronies/cities/mosques.

Um... Well no. I wanted this to be a Muslim game. I ran a test as the Roman Empire and it just didn't feel right. Everything felt like a Byzantine transfer with a few Islamic events thrown in for flavour, which was not what I wanted.

EDIT: Part Twenty-Eight has been fixed...

Part Twenty-Nine is up! The War for Rome is on!

Also, due to some sort of issue, I have had to restart my EU IV game. It doesn't want to go beyond a certain date, no matter what I do... Balls. Hopefully, a fresh start with solve the problem.

EDIT/UPDATE: Yup. Had to do a full reinstall. So there's going to be a break between finishing CKII and starting EUIV, since I have to start over.

The final part of Dar al-Islam is up and running. As mentioned, there have been some technical difficulties, so there will be a bit of a break before I start EU IV.
