Dauphiné not turning into France despite having the upper hand at the end of the HYW?

Hi. 'm new to the mod, so I don't really know what is normal and what isn't, but I don't think the following situation is logical : is this supposed to be a possible outcome of the HYW (1.39, VH/Coward, btw)?

errrrrr.JPG

in case you are wondering which colour is Burgundy, don't, Burgundy is gone.
It kind of opposed Henri's claim to the throne, so it declared war on England along with France. I used the opportunity to launch my own alliance into conflict with England, and took most of the spoils. (Gascogne to FOix, which I later Annexed, and Nor, Caux & Pic to Deauphiné)
There were events popingup about the crowning of the Dauphin as king, and indeed what was left of France (Calais and Paris) was led by Charles VII, But plain "Charles" was still head of the Dauphiné.
Since I had a casus belli on France, I jumped on the occasion of a renewal of the conflict between England + allies & France + burgundy + allies to backstab the later group, against whome I had a CB, and, combining with the English troops but taking again all the spoils, I raped Burgundy and took Calais from France.
To put an end to the schizophrenic feeling of having two Charles around, I finished off France as soon as I could, and Burgundy's only province rebelled, and instead of seing the setting a new Burgundian GVT, Brabant declared its independance, effectively destroying Burgundy forever.

So, by 1453: France & Burgundy out, England off the continent.
Is the fact that I never got the option to become France normal?

Cause not having any of the French events doesn't make the game very exciting. :/

I know there's an event in 1461 that'll make you turn into France.

Don't worry, it'll happen sooner or later.

Either there's a bug, or you being at war with France and Burgundy prevented you from inheriting France.
Well, there was all those popups telling me most people, including Burgundy, were recognizing me (ie the Dauphin Charles) and not Henry as the heir to the french crown despite Charles' VI's treaty at the mad king's time death, and then France started to have "Charles the VIIth" as king, with subsequent popups about the crowing in Rheims and all.
After a while of seing two political entities sharing no link whatsoever (no link of vassalage one way or the other, and they belonged to 2 different alliances), but still having the same ruler, I took the fist opportunity to end this absurd situation (Like having France trialing *my* Gilles de Rais, and declaring him guilty, making ME lose his services...)

errr.
I'm in the 1530s now, and still am Dauphiné.
Not being France means not having verrazano, ie no Explorers, except the random ones (and didn't get any so far). Plus I don't seem to get military leaders either.
generally, I don't seem to have any non-random event...
Not to mention, having my Capital at Tours is not really that glamourous.
Except for the "inheritence of Orleans" that made Orleans a core for the Dauphiné (never mind it already was..)

Most likely a bug then. You might want to report it in the bug thread. Just bad luck you got the bugged path instead of the simple "beat England and hold Champagne" one.

You know, couldn't you just easily trigger the event yourself? It's rather easy to do.

First, press "F12" in you're Dauhpine game. Then write "Event 1000067", or "Event 1000020", and then press "Enter". The first one should've happened earlier, but the other would've removed some cores. But, after this, viola, you're France.

Oh , thanks, didn't know that.
(shows you how much of a virgin I am as far as the mechanics behind the game are concerned, really)
As for reporting the path of decisions that lead to the situation, though I play with events and choices of all known nations as pop-up notices, I must admit I played this really fast, and didn't really play attention to the exact chain of events : couldn't guess think it would turn out this strange, and I had just played another start of game (medium diff) with Deauphiné where everything went fine (ie Burgundy supported Henry's claim) ...

To me Orleans was the trigger.
Try to conquer this province and see.

I have diplo annexed Orleans after the wars...
Nothing special happened...
pretty much diplo annexed anything that is modern France and was not deauphiné at the time of the screenshot, actually. Orleans, Auvergne, Brittany and even Provence, since there was no sign of inheritence by 1500

Yes, this sounds like a bug. It's hard trying to follow the path you took, but I'

Sounds like since Burgundy refused to support Henry V's bid for the French Crown during the negotiations at Troyes, BUR was sent down the path towards claiming the French Crown itself. Since you mentioned that BUR faired very badly in the ensuing war against both the Dauphin and England, it would suggest that BUR still had the option of denying the Dauphin Charles upon Charles VI's death in 1422. At this point, Burgundy either supported or denied the Dauphin.

If they supported the Dauphin...ah. I think I found the issue...

Paste this one over the old one...

HYW Burgundy event file...

This position would not have been awkward if, in Bourges, there had not been the Dauphin, legitimate heir to the crown. For the Duke of Burgundy, denying the rights of the Dauphin with the support of the Parliament of Paris would allow him to approach the throne, but to let the throne go to Charles VII at a price was also a possibility. Charles was prepared to amend the assassination of Philip's father, free the Dukes of Burgundy from liege homage to the Crown of France, and grant Philip disputed territory in the north east of France that included the Somme towns."
