Just to add something, it's completely unimportant whether Germany had any historical "right" to demand those provinces. It's about the dissent the province generates when being annexed, and it's completely correct to say that a province with 90% Germans as inhabitants shouldn't do so, so it should be considered a national province.

Besides, speaking the language does not automatically make you part of the nation.

Otherwise the USA would be considered national provinces of Great Britain, or Zurich a german core.

Where did you read this?
Its true that it fallen into Teutonic hands but only for a short period.
To be honest Gdansk (Danzig) for the most part of it's history was independent City. Citizens majority was polish but germanized. After secession of Poland at the end of XVIII Century it becomes more "German" city. But remember that this province represents not only the town but also waste regions around where were living Poles and Kaszebs.
