I have arranged the first 20-25 Festival - all of them with the same result +5

Population census could be powerful IF it was 50/50 with the population gain/loss. Do it 10 times in a row in your capital - the immediate gain/loss should be about level - leaving you with 50 years of +10 Population Growth - +50% tax and +50%landforce modifier - at the cost of 10 magistrates.

I have search the forum and found similar experiences - which should be solved in the Beta Patch versions. I'm on Steam and automatic updating - so i properbly have to wait until the official patch is released.

Let them come
Frederik have so far been able to defend against all attacks - even the mighty French. It seems like our enemies dont have the patience and wants to cut a deal, and we can keep our provinces, as long as we dont get totally beaten, but our naval superiority will always at least keep Fyn and our capital Sjælland on danish hands. The nations that can threaten us are powers like Spain and England - whos Navies are bigger than ours. And of course we have yet to see how a war against Austria or Russia would turn out.

Poles again again
We are left with a few months of peace, before the next war declaration arrives. It is our old foes Poland.

More war declarations
Then Scotland and Navarra declares war, as Catholic Skots wants a pice of our colonies.
Soon hereafter Brunswick Alsace and Brandenburg also declares war – But this is shortlived. Frederik decides to leave Warmia and Danzig to the poles for now, and walks through Pommerian and Hansa – leaving besieging forces in Brandenburg. Brunswick quickly sees where this is going and offers us white peace on behalf of their entire alliance – and we are left with fighting the scots, Navarra and Poland – first lets deal with the Scots.

Things looked bad for a while as Sjælland and Holstein were under siege + revolters rising. Frederik decided to leave Danzig and and Warmia to the poles – and soon the alliance of Brunswick, Alsace and Brandenburg offered us a white peace

Dealing with the Scots
In Americas – Emanuel Adeler our new colonial General desperately tries to gather the Danish forces – against the 13k big Scottish colonial army. But after the Brunswick surrender, we now have both naval and land forces to spare . and soon the skottish forces are destroyed leaving Skotland begging for peace. As we dont want any more of the worlds loathing, we accept but for a payment in ducats.

Dealing with the Poles
Now the total Danish Land forces are just about the similar size as our last enemy Poland. Again though the Poles fall for the Øsel Trap - sending out 20K troops to the island where they are cut off, leaving a beatable sized enemy to Frederik. A landfall at Warmia succeeds, and Poland have no other option than to surrender or face total defeat in their homelands. They accept our white peace offer. We have survived another BB round.

Frederik has taken Warmia Back - and our forces are now just about 3-2 with the Øsel trap. Poland have only one solution

Frederiks death
Frederik have lead Denmark through 4 Grand wars against mighty foes, gaining Friesland, Holstein and new colonies in Americas. After the peace with Poland, he contracts a mysterious disease uncuable for the doctors of the time. He dies after 14 years at the Helm - leaving the Throne to his Son Erik VII von Oldenburg.

Erik
Erik would turn out to be one of the greatest Kings in the History of Denmark. Unlike his ancestors, he would never lead an army in battle himself and was a somewhat terrible administrator. He was a court favorite though, and silver tongued, which were needed if the world was going to change the worlds view upon Denmark. ADM 4 DIP 8 MIL 4.

So far the expansion have been ok. We would have liked a the whole Kalmar union reunited, but Russias expansion have halted that for now.

The world Powers
The two world powers of Spain and Ottoman Empire are ahead of everybody.
Ottoman have gone far up in europe putting some pressure upon our biggest scares Austria and Russia. It might be to our advantage.
Spain have succeeded in taking most of South and middle Americas.
Russias expansion is frightening, and so is Austrias especially as they are HRE. England and Portugal have expanded their colonies as expected, while France is struggeling a bit. Other notable world powers is Ming and Mughals.
On the surprise side, we see Skotland as a somewhat succesful colonial power. And Bavaria has grown and is actually larger than Denmark, while Morroco has expanded south.

Erik VII von Oldenburg - Danish Expansions​

Striking the right deals
The first years of Eriks reign was all about rebuilding our reputation. Diplomats were constantly send to our neighbours offering gifts, marriages and agreements, and in 1647 it resulted in an alliance with HRE Austria, and thus we were safe from the russian Bear - at least for a while.

Kalmar is ours
In 1652 a border dispute started a new war between Sweden and Denmark. We were the agressor with a Casus Belli and Sweden were no longer a match for the danish empire. Our newly appointed General Emanuel Adeler easily defeats the swedish army and Østergøtland and Dalaskogan is soon on danish hands. Sweden cleverly decides to release the two regions with only a minor cut in our reputation. Sweden is now reduced to a small and unimportant nation. It cna only be a matter of time before the rest is on danish hands, unless the Russians get there first.
The only downfall was that it costed us our alliance with Austria.

New Colonies
Erik was also desperately looking for new colonies. But colonialwise we were shortranged. As Atikamekw became danish Core land in 1653 it opened up our colonial range and new oppotunities, but most of both south and north america is unfortunately already colonized. All that is left in our range is the 3 regions - Mosquito, Cayenne and TucuJulandia - which Erik quicly succeeds in colonizing, and thus the expansion of Denmark is continued in Americas. We don't neccesarily wan't anything with this expansion, and if the Spaniards decide that they want them, they can easily take them, as they a scattered and hard to defend. It can provide us with an income hopefully.

But Eriks plans went even further, when he decides to follow up on his granddads plan of an East Indian trade company. He ships out 22 good danish ships with 8K troops, heading for Ceylon. This time the expedition and goals were planne the right way.

First war against HRE Austria
The imperialistic nation of Austria could no longer bear the continuesly expansion of the Danes, and they send us a declaration of war, which is quickly followed up by other HRE members and Poland. Denmark is on the defensive once again.

HRE declares war on Denmark, while our troops are securing new lands in East Asia.

The Austrian Invasion
The Austrian are military 3-1 against us and have access to our Peninsula Jutland, and so a new defensive masterplan is constructed. We must keep Fyn and Sjælland at all cost, and this by maintaining Naval control.
Once again Danzig and Warmia is evacuated - and this time most of our troops escape. Austria quickly conquers the two provices, and sends up two strong armies towards Holstein, while we gather our forces on Fyn, Sjælland and Skåne.
Behind the scene Eriks diplomats are working fulltime, and the HRE members are more than happy with striking a peace deals, as they keep their honour and HRE relations, but without risking anything. As Danzig and Warmia is taking, Poland sees no big gain for them either and accepts peace at the cost of a minor confession of defeat. Austira is now our only enemy. They send one of theire armies against Slesvig, and we set up the perfect trap, leaving Fyn with troops and navies. The Habsburg arme takes the bait and goes straight to fyn with 20K troops. An while our Navy cuts of their retreat, our General Emanuel Adeler attacks from Sjælland with 36K troops. The austrians bear no chance and is slaughtered to the last man. As many times before it is the Danish navy that is the key to Victory. Long live the Navy. Hurrah.

Austria is not at all beaten though - as this is only a fraction of their troops, and they dont fall for the same trap again. They conquer Holstein and Slesvig easily, and stays on the peninsula. Erik sends a diplomat towards Austria, with the purpose of finding out the price for peace. He surprisingly returns with a peace offer, where Denmark looses no terrain, and Austria gains Prestige. The deal is sigined and sealed , and thus the first war against the Austria is finished.

Just after the peace, a fleet loaded with spices arrives in Copenhagen. And they have good news. Ceylon is conquered, and they have decided to hand over the region of Jaffna to Denmark at the exchange of peace - and future good relations. Dansk ost indisk kompagni is now a reality.
