Congrats to you both. I unfortunately am unfamiliar with Stroph1's writing so I aplogise for that. Daniel however, I do know, and he is quite gifted. He can spin a tale in an instant......remembering the Italy AAR ;). I did read some of his "solo" work and his sytle is unmatched.

Anyways, good job guys!

Entry: McCollum, Daniel D. (1982- )

Daniel David McCollum was born in 1982 to parents Daniel Raymond McCollum and Denise McCollum(Dombeck). His father was, at the time, serving in the Wisconsin National Gaurd as well as selling insurance. After a four year period of moving about the state, as well as the birth of a second child Jennifer, the family settled down to live in Elderon, Wisconsin in a house which had been built by Denise's father several years earlier.

McCollum grew up in the country, and would spend much of his life claiming that it was the only real way to grow up. Although having little contact with the McCollum side of the family, his father and grandfather having just overcome a long feud, he had ample contact with his Mother's who all lived within a 30 mile radius of the old farm house. He would often say that he took after the Dombecks, while his sister took after the McCollums.

Daniel was only an average student, although many teachers and peers would claim he could do much better. However, after 12 years of publis school, he did attain entry into Northern Michigan University were he began to persue a Bachlors degree in, first History, and then History Education.

Today he continued to live in Marquette, Michigan during the school year to return home during the summer. With his degree in Education almost completed, he looks forward to entering a graduate program after taking care of some loans and, perhaps, entering into law school and using it as a spring board into the world of politics.

Ok, I hope you'll excuse me a little bit of cheese there, I thought I would be kinda funny. Turns out its a little mroe difficult to write about yourself in the third person than you would think!

Thanks again for the honor of being chosen as a writer of the week, I really do appreciate it! Of course, now I have to pity my poor professors who have to put up with my writting now that my ego has gotten even bigger!! ;)

As you can see by the errm...entry above, I'm currently a Junior at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, MI although I'm from(and still consider home to be) the small town of Elderon WI which boasts the high population of 189 people. I actually live in its suburbs ;)

Next semester I am goign to be doing a semester abroad in Maynooth, Ireland a town about 30 miles from Dublin. It should be a great experience, and I am really looking forward to it, a friend of mine is currently studying in Krakow Poland which she seems to enjoy as well(and yes, she's been learning Polish for years. I remember driving with her a few months ago when some car cut her off and she started swearing and yelling at it in Polish. THAT was frightening :p)

Not quiet sure what else to say here. Once again, thanks a lot, and if you ahve any questions about me just ask! ;)

Dan

P.S. You guys can just call me Dan, or Dan M. BTW. I don't know exactly why I chose to put 'Daniel' in my user name, I noramlly go by the shorted version. Oh well :)

You know I find it really interesting to read the bios of the various people who've been highlighted so far in this weekly feature. I'd like to give Warspite another big pat on the back for this initiate since I really think it is enhancing the overall spirit of community in the forum.

So Rick/Stroph1's an old fogey too, eh? Congrat's on your recent and brave entry into wedded bliss. I hope you're able to keep her in line. :D

Dan: I've found that writing any type of bio about yourself is a challenge. After an award such as this, maybe your home town will erect a sign at the city limits to announce to all passers-through that they're entering "Elderon. Home of Dan McCollum, an AAR Writer of the Week". I'd like to see that...although I guess if I'm in the neighbourhood I'd better not blink. :D

MrT,

Old is relative. Being married to a woman 5 years my junior alternates from making me feel old (she barely remembers the music that was popular when I was in high school [disco]) to young (having a teen daughter makes me try and keep up).

I am impressed that you still have the character from the Italy AAR in your sig still.

More than that it is good to see you are going for your dreams, though one in politics will likely be very interesting hehe, I have tried to dip into politics years ago and knew I wasnt the right stuff. I wish you the best of luck Dan.

You know, next summer when you get back home maybe we can hook up sometime, perhaps we can go to the AAR-Con together next year? Either way, best of luck in school and ill keep in touch friend.

Maybe the LD or Warpsite could sticky a thread were we could keep the birographies or the AAR writers of the week! Or maybe even pin a little picture of the famous guys next to their biographies! That would be nice... Well we already have a picture of MrT smoking on page one of the bAAR, but that hardly counts! :p

We could call the thread: :D :D

"The AAR Hall of Fame"

"Wonderful Writers, Ugly Faces"

"Who wants to date a famous AAR writer? Ladies you pick!"

"Why do they all have red noses? Are they cold or alcoholic?"

PS: Thank God I'm a horrible writer and I'll never be picked as AAR writer of the week! I always look like a dork on pictures!:D

Each thread for the AAR writers of the week are showcased and carefully kept tucked in the LibrAARy, it is towards the bottom of the page, after all of the AAR lists. For now that will have to do until Admin helps me with the reformation of the AAR forums. Pictures are a good idea I think, I have a good one with my head on arnold schwarzenagers body hehe (j/k):D

Rick, have you seen the newest Neverwinter Nights game that came out just a couple months ago?? In your last post I get the idea you thought I meant the old NWN of AOL. The new NWN is extreemely detailed for the D&D world.

....And only worth something if you intend to play multiplayer (which is its real strength). The single-player campaign included, while nice-looking, features a fairly cheesy linear plot-line full of inconsistencies and overloaded with powerful magical items in Diabloesque fashion. When your L1 Paladin/L16 Sorceror does most of his killing with a sword because his insanely powerful magical items makes him nearly unkillable, its time to pull the plug on the game :D

And, incidentally, a belated congratulations to Daniel McCollum and Stroph1. I cannot say that I have read all of your works, let alone most of it, yet what I have read was impressive.

I've got it, so beware, young Jedi.

However, what concerns me at the moment are the amount of people who don't bother to read the stickies, and yet want us to add more. Stickies are made stickies for a reason, so everyone should be familiar with them.
