At what point should you start to get concerned about your bad boy level?

Right now it is 36, and, playing as Germany, Russia--the one country I don't want to attack me!--has DOWed my twice. The first time Russia DOWed France declared war against me shortly afterward.

It depends quite a bit. Something like 30-40 is quite frightening if you play Prussia (You annexed a couple of `em minors to make the map look better ;) ).

But if you take Brazil, annex and conquer all the "minors" like Argentina and Peru, AND REMEMBER to buy the Dutch, French and English Guyanas (This is essential so that you are not their neighbour.) Now what`s you worry? Keep the "border state" of either USCA or Mexico (If you choose Mexico, then get that Belize!!).

Maybe even make the state of Panama, and TADAA! You got yourself a nice little South America, hundreds of BB, but no worries none at all....

Technically speaking of course... :D

But on the otherhand nobody wants to make any deals with you and you are dependent on your own research, which can be a bit of a downer.

This is why it is important for Prussia to have a large standing army. To provide a deterent to bad boy wars. Historically, this was true as well. One of the Kaisers remarked that the purpose of the Prussian army was to be, not to fight.

Is military strength an effective deterrent against badboy wars?

Yes. You can be the baddest boy around, if you're also the toughest boy around.

I've never had a BB war while my BB was less than 20. So I start to pay special attention to my mil points at about 20.
