I took Italy communist in my game for fun, and I have Romania as an ally. When Germany DoWs SU they enter alliance with Germany warring with SU screwing my game up. How do I prevent this?

coup Romania, which will give them sliders similar to you. That or invade and annex Romania, then release them as a puppet. A fascist Germany is closer to Romania's sliders than a communist Italy.
thats the problem, Romania is already communist and my puppet ally. Whats happening is they are leaving my alliance even though they are a communist puppet and joining Germany.
Sounds like you're up against a scripted event. You might have to look through the Romanian events and mod it somehow. You shouldn't have to do that, but honestly, I think that the devs probably missed this one.
