I've just been watching an episode of Dads Army and was wondering whether or not it would be possible to include a 'Dads Army' event (or something) in the game.

I understand that Militia units are present but I dont think that they capture the essence or feeling behind the home guard. They may in fact be to good to represent this force, which may, as suggested have done more harm than good. I know for a fact that there were many accidents and deaths due to the poor training of these units and the weapons which they were issued. On many occasions the home guards over-zealous attempts resulted in confusion and disarray. Could this be included? :)

What does the community think? It could be as simple as an event which gives the player an additional number of militia units. Maybe it could take the form of an increase in manpower, as the home guard took on many local responsibilities (observer corps etc) and freed up the more able bodied men for front line action.

P.S. If this is has already been suggested lets have no 'You stupid Boy' replies :)

Interesting idea, but don´t take the way of increasing manpower.

The government is already able to recrute every man in its state.
However, manpower only represents able-bodied males of military age (18-45 or so). Many countries used (or planned to use) people outside this category. For instance, there were the old men of the Home Guard, the Hitler Youth units in the Volkssturm, or the women who fought in the Red Army.
I thought of an event, triggered when a country passes its panic threshold (the point when it's lost enough provinces that, if played by the AI, it starts to spam militia). You would be able to choose to call up these groups, giving you a large manpower boost at a cost in IC due to workers going to the front.

Speaking of that, i suggest that HOI3 has factories have a manpower cost (if people are working, they can't fight).
