D-Day Never Happens?

I've played a bunch of games in the 1936 scenario -- as Germany, Italy, Spain, Hungary, Japan, plenty of countries... But out of all the games I've played, only on a few rare occasions has the USA jumped into the war. Once, as Nationalist Spain when I joined the Axis, America invaded Africa, but never attacked Germany in Europe. Another time, as Republican Spain as a member of the Allies, they invaded China/Japan, and again never attacked Germany.

Not once, in any of my games, has America come to liberate Germany -- either Germany goes unopposed against the USSR, or USSR DOW's Germany and crushes them -- never any American intervention.

Any idea why that's so rare, or if there's a way to coax America into doing it?

Happened to me too, in 1944 D-Day didnt come so i took all my men out of France and moved them to Berlin to coax the Allies but its 1946 and after 2 years of a completely empty France they still wont land.

That's odd. In my games (Germany in DD 1.3) the US is all over the place. They have attempted landings in the Middle East, occupied India, Northern Russia, Occupied England, and once against the French coast. now they don't conduct effective invasions in all places, but the landing in the Middle East had 6+ divisions get ashore and in the fight before I could shift forces to defeat them.

Also, the US heavily reinforces the UK. Half of the divisions I destroyed in my conquest of India this past game were American.

So far in all of my games the USA only lands in southern england or liverpool.Never seen them even try to land in mainland europe.Outside of europe they only tried to land in africa so far.

Yes, I mentioned this problem in a different thread (http://www.europa-universalis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=466868) while the AI USA DOES invade, it follows no logical course in doing so.

In the first place, like the other members stated, typically AI Germany will not declare war on the USA after Japan does. So, if the USA is AI, it ignores Germany and Italy entirely and focuses the rest of the game on Japan. But even if I am playing Germany and declare war, or "cheat" to get AI Germany to do so, the AI USA will still focus on Japan and invade everywhere else EXCEPT Europe.

In over 100 games the AI USA has NEVER invaded Southern Italy or the Coast of France. In fact I've never seen the AI USA invade any part of Europe prior to 1947! Meanwhile, AI Britain cuts off the USA from North Africa 9 times out of 10 by invading Casablanca and taking all of North Africa.

It's very frustrating because as a result the games usually end up with either AI Germany smashing Russia or AI Russia conquering all of Europe.

In the second place AI Britain is just as bad. It seems to focus on North Africa and Norway, and leaves Europe alone except for Strategic Bombing. There is no coordinated action to invade Europe and take some pressure off the Russians while also liberating western Europe for the "long game."

It has been mentioned that the AI cannot handle a two front war, that explains allot. Maybe making sure japan is allied to germany could help (give a try)?
back in earlier versions of HoI2 u used to have to save and reload every couple of months to "wake up" the AI as it would forget what it was doing or "fall asleep". hehe
Mostly the AI is just defending on the ropes anyway after a few key major battles, which it does fairly well, yes ?

I've actually tried this a few times in my early games. If I did it in the 1936-38 scenarios, the Russians smash the Japanese. If I did it in the 1939-41 scenarios, the Japanese smash the Russians. Meanwhile, neither AI USA or Britain changes their actions...apparently there is still a "two-front" war the AI's cannot handle.

I downloaded the DAIM, so maybe that will help things? But yeah, I had to do my own "Italian D-Day" playing as Italy when the Communists overran Germany.. now Northern Europe is the USSR/satellite states, and southern Europe/Spain is all Italy
