Hmm.

Well perhaps if you are having such a serious performance issue, add the cap mentioned earlier to building units for China (and the UK), but you probably want to beef up irregulars a bit then too.

What kind of system are you running?

1.6 Ghz, 1024 Mg SDRAM, 120Gb hard drive, with 30 Gb free, Win XP professional, 128 Mg Video card.

Well, Arado is well above the min specs there then...

Maybe this thread should be moved to tech support? That far above the min you should never see choppiness...

I dont know off the top of my head, but my sys is way above it. I ran into the
same problem with HoI when the game had tons of units as well. The 1400 chinese infantry, not 400, FOURTEEN HUNDRED, bogged down my game. I think this is a problem in itself that the developers should look at. Also,
the AI file is set to make only 10% of the Chinese army irregular, but the AI makes the vast majority 95%+ irregular. The settings on that line may not be entirely hard coded, but only "guidelines." Ill reduce their tarriff efficiency and their desired army size, then I'll try another game.
Thanks for the help.

China only has tech to build irregulars at the start (and for some time afterwards when played by the AI) and they get irregulars as partisans.

The only problem is that it doesn't work. I prefer to nerf china's income like so:
Code:
tariff_eff = 0.1
in china's inc file.
That way china makes 400 in tariffs instead of 4000.
That's tweaked for the VIP economy though, a vanilla player might want to load up as china and see how it does.

Where is the "china's inc file?" Also, how do you extract your .rar files into the victoria files??

Actually (although almost undoable ;)) those specs should have been differentiated. It makes a huge difference (memory wise) if you use Win98SE or WinXP. But in any rate, 512 MB is far more realistic.

As for DirectX 9. I assume that this comes from the Microsoft marketing division, as the game itself runs without a hitch in DirectX 8.1. I found that out more or less by accident when I fired up Vicky while I had booted into my Win98SE/DX8.1 combo. Need that one for playing older DirectX 7 games (like PG3 or Diablo II), as these don't even want to start under DirectX 9.

That's definately not true. Check out the FAQ's in the tech support forum for details. Those are based on my own experiences with Vicky on my Athlon Xp1600+/512MB/GeForce 4 Ti4200/Audigy II system.

Well I think you got the inc qustion answer in your other thread, but to extract a rar file you need WinRAR, which you can get free from download.com.
