What in the game decides that Britian and France WILL declare war, no matter what. I would like to change these things, are they just AI events?

UK and France are allied and UK guarantees the independence of Poland. IIRC there is a very slight chance that UK will not DOW Germany after Germany DOW's Poland but very slight-1%. You could mod your save to either break up the Allies, or remove UK's GoI of Poland.Grudge said:

Just don't invade anywhere that the Allies have guaranteed.

It is not absolute that UK will dow upon invasion of Poland. My current game she did not. I have annexed Poland, Denmark and Yugoslavia, and am at war with Romania and Greece now (who had guarantees with Yugoslavia). So far the allies have remained out of it.
The only thing that may have been a factor in this is signing a moderately large trade with UK early on in the game, which is still active.

UK going to war over Poland is 99% certain. You obviously came across that 1% game. It should be interesting.
Yes, most "historical" events have an "almost 100%" chance of success.
E.g. there is 98% possibility that chechoslovakia will accept the treaty of Munich.
You can change the percentages at the event .txt files. Just remember:

UK guarantees the independence of Poland short time before the (historical) start of the war. I once played a game where Poland rejected the GoI offered by UK. When I tried (playing as Netherlands), Poland accepted. I was preparing for a war as Ally, so in the end UK and France still ended up having war with Germany.
Knowing that Poland can reject UK's GoI, this might be usefull for Germany. Did anyone ever try to GoI Poland before UK does? Maybe there is way to prevent the Allies DoWing Germany without changing events or save files.

So, France and the low countries fell and Vichy was created. When Italy joined Axis, the war with Greece began anew, and they have been annexed. Bulgaria is to be the new Reich vacationland. Adolph's young cousin, Walt Schiklgruber, has a vision of a resort there called NaziLand. That and a better native port than Podgorica, which goes to Italy along with most of Greece.
Hungary remains aloof (60% approval rate according to recent polling data).
Sweden is about to fall, followed by Norway, and then preparations will be made for invasion of Finland to create the greater Scandinavia. But more infantry will be required.
I should mention that my earliest ally was a National Socialist Ireland (coup). They took the north, but lost the south again to Cromwellian brits. History repeats... Perhaps the Spanish will join and send their armada?

With Germany, I'd still go for Europe, though - easily the most valuable continent around.
It'd be nice being able to fight the Soviet Union without having to worry about the Western front.

There's a BP where if USSR lose 25% of NatProvs and Germany isn't at war with the Allies it triggers. Only had it happen once though, and it was through the UK not GoIing Poland. So I DoW'd, steamrolled, built up and steamrolled USSR in 1940-41. Invaded France in October '41 and got Vichy to fire too.
I hate the fact that the only way you can get Danzig as a national province is if you choose the event that 99% chance leads to war. Germany should be able to have the claim for later on, etc. Just program Poland to always deny the demands if need be.
But really, the Allies need to be spanked. By September '39, I'd say the time is about right. Just do what Germany historically did, except don't MUCK UP royally in the Battle of Britain, and don't start one front until the other is secure... and hey, it's all sweetness & light... what's not to like?

I don't know if it's only 1%. In about 15% of all the games that i play that i'm not Germany - Germany invades Poland and by 1941 they're still at peace with the Allies. Rather annoying when you want Germany to be large.
