IMHO will be nice have a screen with customizable rules like in ck2 https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/ck2-dev-diary-the-rules-of-the-game.923570/

Some options i will like to see in the rules :

Colonization AI:Historical/unrestricted
Institutions:Historical/unrestricted

Also can add other options for custom more the game:

Military leaders:Historical/Random/Mix off both (historical and random when you try recruit new ones)
National Ideas:Historical/option to change them spending points

More options can be added to that screen,this is just an example for explain the idea

I'm pretty sure this isn't gonna happen, reason given from Paradox was that they would need a lot more QA testing because you have more different scenarios.

I would like to see a historical-ahistorical slider, which adjusts the chances of DHE's to fire and the AIs reactions. I'm the sort of player who likes to see Spain, Austria with its PUs, a divided Burgundy, ect, ect but I know a lot of folks hate the idea of railroading. Having a more in depth set up screen would add a lot to the game. The issue is the amount of time and effort it would take, so I think its unlikely we'd see on (or a good one at least). Maybe for EU5.... we can dream....

Can confirm that. Not enough QA resources according to Johan. On the other hand it's pretty funny as now there's 1024 possible combinations of enabled DLCs and soon to be 2048...

Maybe they can add this things when programing next DLC,if they did in CK2 i think they can do in EU4

CK2 and EU4 are completely different games though, so arising issues will be different.

Honestly, every game so far that has introduced game rules (Stellaris, HOI4, CK2) has suffered somewhat because of them. The main issue is that it becomes harder and harder to design with a goal in mind without ticking off substantial portions of the playerbase that are using different combinations of rules. It also makes the overall game vision pretty murky (sandbox? historical sim?). In the case of EU4 even a simple historical-ahistorical rule for example would make things like Spain or Austria difficult to tune correctly without distorting the map depending on which setting was chosen.

I will like have the option off choose if colozination AI can be historical or unrestricted,the same for institutions,with that for me is enough.also more options can be added,i remenber in eu3 you can customize a few rules before start the game
