So as the title says, is there the possibility to customize one's starting planet beyond just environment?

I've seen that it is possible to have the AI start with more techs so as to give off the look of advanced civilizations already exploring the vast reaches of space, yet what of the possibilities to customize your own start (beyond ethos, government, and species).

Say being able to change your home planet from dwarf to Gaia to increase the difficulty of a game for those wishing to role play the underdog, or to ease it for those who like to drape themselves in overpowered grandeur as they easily catch their fishies and smasheses dem *Gollum noise*

Or, going back to the AI advanced start, give yourself an advanced start. Hell, maybe even give yourself a delayed start! More or less starting Pops, blah blah, etc.

I know this might take away from some of the randomness/unknown of space and exploration that Stellaris wishes to convey to its audience, but people love (In my experience/observations) CK2's Ruler Designer and EU4's Nation Designer for the ability it allows you to customize.

Thoughts mine fellow forumites?

Totally fine if it is not in the base game, but it is an appealing DLC possibility *hint hint, wink wink, cha-ching cha-ching*

I don't think I saw any option for any modification outside of the type and the name.


That maybe something for a later DLC or so, I don't know.

Yeah, I do not think it will be in the base game either as previous desginers were not

I only can presume that you can do this by modding your save game.
So start a new game, save, exit the game, edit your save and reload it.

Can I start my games on ringworlds?

Don't know if it's a joke or a genuine question.

But seeing as ringworlds are a highly expensive and advanced type of building/spacestation, and your species just invented ftl travel. It's not possible. The only way to get a ringworld is to conquer one from a Fallen Empire.

Well if starting positions and events are moddable you can imagine ANYTHING!
You could start at a fallen empire's level of technology on a ringworld and be faced with an endgame disaster from the get go for example. Sooo cool!

That would completely bypass what the game wishes to convey and be rather overpowered and dull. You would bypass starting and mid-game, hit late-game and be stalemated until other empires finally 'woke' you up

The point of some mods IS to bypass what the game wishes to convey!
Playing specific scenarios (like the one i gave) could be a lot of fun. Of course you wouldnt get the full experience but you crete your own.
Want to play as an overpowered but stagnating empire tasked with stopping extra dimensional aliens to destroyer less advanced races? You can!
Want to start the game being faced with end game disasters from the get-go and play "survival mode" as the Spawns of Space Cthulu eat every living thing in the universe? You can!

Well maybe I am roleplaying lost colony of humans which survived the collapse of their stellar empire on a remote station and now seek to return Home and reclaim the knowledge of their ancestors.

You can start in a random system or one of several preset systems, one of which is Sol. I don't think we know anything beyond that. But that would certainly make it easier to mod in your own starts.

I like the idea. But it won't be in the base game. Maybe we'll get something along the line of random new world where you set alot of options before you launch the game. Or maybe it'll have to modded into the game before you get access to it.

But we'll see what happens with DLC's and expansions in the future. I'm guessing espionage and trade will be added as dlc's before we get more customizable starts.
