If you start a new game, the arrows to change the date are gone, there is only the preset bookmarks. Has anyone else noticed this or is it just something wrong with my computer?

Have you selected a save game? In that case, the arrows are not shown.
It's one of the things I hated most about Vicky2.. I like to see a rough image of what will happen.
Weird, I just started a game as Saladin on a custom date using the arrows which are still there for me.

They obviously didn't do it on purpose then. Doomdark would probably know about that, being a dev and everything...
No worries, we have not killed the custom start dates (on purpose). If there is a bug, it will be fixed ASAP.
For me I think they disappeared after I made a custom ruler but they don't always disappear after doing this, came back after I restarted the game.

I see how it happens, if you go to your saved games, then back to select historical starts, you lose the arrows to select custom starts.

judging from the last ultra-fast bug fixes, I expect this problem to be fixed quickly. I know you won't disappoint me paradox, you never do :3
Mine went after I selected a save to see whether playable, wasn't, went back to start screen and the arrows disappeared.
I hadn't noticed at first, but when I checked again, I had the same issue. Custom starts are still in.
