Hello Colossal Order, thank you for creating such a good game. With the latest DLC you added Radio Stations to the game. They are good but I would really like to have my own music to be played without the use of another program. Is there an opportunity that someone could tell how to add custom music to a station or even to create a new Station?

Yes, nothing is better than custom music, only interrupted by fictional Stauschau programmes, where the radio speaker informs the audience of unusual objects on the highway aswell as kilometres of jamming traffic.
Here's what I mean
The other thing, that is nice to have is the ability to have name templates for your citizens.

@mrboese below: Your mod is somehow better than the original implementation? Someone, hire this person ASAP!

Could you still explain to us how the stations work? I'd like to know for myself.

How the game currently works it's very difficult to create custom radio stations. It was ... challenging (and causing me a lot of cursing and almost giving up multiple times) to find out how it works. CSL Music Mod now does allow creating custom stations (including talk, commercials, ...).

I have had that mod before 1.6 and it was working very well. Now when I read through that guide on github then I'm actually lost or it would be easier if there would be another way to implement the radio stations.:)

Where do you get lost? Then I can update the guide further (e.g. I included the example station from the Workshop).
Basically it's just renaming the songs so the mod knows which content they are (by adding #hashtags to the end), putting them into a subdirectory and creating the config file with the name and which folders should be used. The schedule is auto-generated if you don't do more.

is there a limit to the number of tracks you can add to your custom station? I've noticed that tracks in custom packs are no more than 12
No, there shouldn't be any limit. The only limit I know of is that you can have max. 256 radio stations. The Sim City (2013) pack for example has more than 12 songs.

I'm sure you could add your own music to \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Cities_Skylines\Files\Radio, respectively. *Make a backup first*

Convert to .ogg with vlc (https://www.vlchelp.com/convert-audio-format/)
Copy your file over

There may be a configuration file where you may need to add the name of the file as well.
You can do this, but you only can replace files. There's no such configuration or other interface - the music files are predefined in the game's code and loaded with the asset/prefab system.

Wish there were an option to choose a directory with mp3 files in game.
I also thought about this, but this would mean that there should be some folder picker dialog to select this. AFAIK the game doesn't have one, so I need to make one and so on. Too much hassle for such a small feature.

So you're telling me there's no way to add custom music to the Radio stations then?

Well that sucks. I wish the devs would change that......
