Now, I know there is plenty of information about this elsewhere on the forums, but I keep getting confused by "suggestions" as well as conflicting facts being placed back and forth, so I wanted to know for sure: How do "elite" units work.

Now, most commonly I find thread topics about if this elite unit template will exist or that elite unit template exist and etc. (i.e and very commonly "Will SS templates exist" sort of thing). But I just want to know, simply, what is confirmed for elite units.

Now, what I know is that "elite units" are a class of units you can prioritize for reinforcements alongside regular military and conscript/militia forces. That's about all I know that is actually true. Will elite units be based on performance (i.e units EARN elite status, which makes a bit of sense gameplay wise but not much historically since nations would have already established elite forces of some kind)? Will they work similarly to HoI III? And my big question is (due primarily to excitement), will you be able to create elite units (even ones that didn't exist) based on battle performance? Like, could I pull out troops into some elite unit I pull out of my butt called an "Ass Kicker Division" for any stupid reason?

I'm more confused (and dumb) than anything, not really suggesting anything new if it doesn't already exist.

It is simple.

You make a division template. You rate the division template "Elite". Every division that uses that template is prioritized for reinforcements as well as upgrades. That's it.

If after a campaign you have some divisions that performed really well, you could switch their template from a regular template to an elite template, even if there is literally no difference between them except for the rating. As soon as they are rated elite, they are prioritized for reinforcements.

Allright. What I am getting here is it is just an organization thing. So, elite units need not be "elite" if the player so chooses.

Thanks m8 :)
