I'm willing to let it be. But if the AI does this in historical mode, then no, it's not fine. It's absolutely ridiculous, a little funny at first, but then it becomes quite said when Paradox is trying to market this game as the definitive WW2 strategy game on the market, the HOI we all have been waiting for, but Estonia is puppeting Afghanistan.
Daniels stream had historical focusses off yes.

There wasn't an Estonian division within 5,000 km of Afghanistan. They only "contributed" in the Baltic.
There wasn't a single Turkish divisions anywhere near the Baltic and yet at the end the player chooses to puppet Latvia. I don't see people in this thread whining about that, why is it?

(also, Turkey did have enough score to puppet Afghanistan themselves. They passed on it, _twice_. at this point i'd say it's a fair game for the AI to help itself to it)

This is exactly it, though! Estonia should have puppeted or annexed Latvia, but instead they puppeted Afghanistan, I assume, because they didn't have enough war contribution. Therefore, neither country got what would actually be useful to them.

That's correct, but this was only made possible by actions of the player, who carved Afghanistan in half, thus leaving a part that was small enough for the AI to take for themselves. Nothing prevented the player from instead making Afghanistan a puppet first, or leaving it intact for a round and thus too big for the AI to take. He just didn't pay enough attention.

If the AI passed on Afghanistan, they could have puppeted or annexed Latvia next round. Da9L only puppeted Latvia because he couldn't take the rest of Iraq and Afghanistan. But yes, maybe Da9L should have focused on annexing one state per round, but it seems like a bit of a trap for the player. I just think the system should be relaxed and the AI better are prioritizing. Otherwise every Barbarossa peace will result in a tiny left over Russia puppeted by a minor. It's guaranteed border gore.

Nope, they couldn't. Estonia had 30-odd contribution score, when making Latvia a puppet had a cost of something like 110. I suspect even taking single province from Latvia was too costly, otherwise the AI would've done it instead of grabbing the remains of Afghanistan.

Also, one more thing. If I remember right the older streams, during the peace conference the player was able to click on the other country's picks and turn them off, making them rethink their choices. Is that only something available in MP and/or reserved to the war leader? Because if not and the player can always signal the AI they don't like the choice it is making, then this whole thread is pretty much moot..?

I assumed that if everyone passed on Latvia then Estonia would get it. Estonia should have gotten it. They were bordering it and (I assume) occupying it. Therefore, the system should be amended so Estonia gets Latvia and leaves Afghanistan alone. Everyone wins.

Also, one more thing. That might be reserved to faction leader, but I don't actually know. I think the player should be given maximum discretion because he or she has a brain. It would also be nice if participants could make claims during the war. For example, Estonia could have made a claim on Latvia, which would help Estonia get it.

If AI or players could claim territories based on their effort before peace confrence takes place then that issue could be resolved. Other option is that It is more expensive to get territorythat is more futher away from you (player or AI). Sadly developers aren't interested at fixing it because their main focus is Multiplayer..
