Something has to be done with current Peace Conference system because currently it is just broken and unbalanced. How is it that when you conquer both Iraq and Afghanistan (both of them for some stupid reason joined with Baltic.. BALTIC Alliance) you can't conquer them fully and instead Afghanistan is puppeted by Estonia and Iraq puppeted by Italy (both Estonia and Italy are pretty much on the other side of the earth from Iraq and Afghanistan).* How does it even make sense?? Estonia puppeting Afghanistan is just ridiculous.. some would even say stupid.

If you fully conquer country or territory and other allies have 0 change to access those areas then it would be logical that they would have 0 change to demand those things. Also why and how was Afganistan and Iraq even able to join with Baltic Alliance. Did they had before even a hint of diplomatic relations between each other? I have seen similar thing with random South American country joining with Chinese United Front in someone's Brazil playthrough.. What?? Why??

I hope that peace conference system is fixed because currently I imagine that it will be for many ridiculous and hilarious during first playthrough but after that simply frustrating and game breaking..

They join the alliance before they get conquered in hope that if they defeat you they get to be a nation after the war and maybe steal some of your clay.

As for the other nations accepting them.....

If they contributed more to the war, that's why they took it. This isn't eu4, countries have puppets/Colonies on the other side of the earth that they rule over. Italy really isn't that far from the middle East at all btw...what are you talking about?

If netherlands can own a colony in Indonesia, it's not so crazy to think Italy can own a country that's maybe 1500-3000 miles away, but very close to Italy's African Colonies on the east coast of africa

Distance from Iraq to Italy is 2,893 kilometers. air travel distance is equal to 1,798 miles

Distance from Italian owned Cyprus to Iraq is under 1000 km. That's not even close to the other side of the world(which would be over 10k miles)

I know what he said. I'm just trying to make the point that calling the peace system "broken and unbalanced" based on a singular second-hand example of watching someone else play the game doesn't make much sense to me. At best it's hyperbolic, at worst it's baseless.

Afghanistan. Mother fucking Afghanistan was puppeted by Estonia. Estonia! That is absolutely ridiculous. There is no definitive way in any world even resembling something similar to reality can you defend Afghanistan becoming a puppet to Estonia.

Now if it was due to human meddling or historical AI turned off, I would accept that but if it's literally AI on AI, doing stuff like that, then I'm sorry but this game just isn't ready yet. Something needs to be fixed. Something needs to be rebalanced.

That is ridiculous, yes, but Italy taking middle eastern Colonies isn't as strange as you made it seem. While Estonia is technologically more advanced than Afghanistan, who were still fighting in styles seen prenapoleonic wars, Estonia would have absolutely no ability to project power that far.
Just imagine that Italy rewarded Estonia with a resource rich colony, knowing they didn't have the manpower to take Iraq and Afghanistan and hold it, but not wanting anyone else to get their hands on it. Yes it's crazy, and needs to be tweaked, but...yeah no you're absolutely right about that part... you're reward is aiding Hitler cat's territorial ambitions

No, Italy taking Middle Eastern colonies is fine. Even other Empires like the British were messing around in Iran in real life, and countries (relatively) similar to Italy have managed to build massive, resource-rich empires that have expanded across the globe.

My issue is Estonia getting Afghanistan. I could see Estonia getting a tiny chunk of Soviet land, similar to what the Finnish would've gotten if the Germans won the war, as a reward for aiding the third Reich/axis powers. But getting Afghanistan as a puppet? No, just no.

The AI is too greedy. They will try to cash in their war contribution even if it gives them no actual benefit and makes borders a complete mess. They also create puppets too willy nilly. If there aren't any good resources at stake or if they're far away, they should pass. I might have to become an isolationist state despite my enjoyment of having a coalition of allies if peace deals will end so absurdly.

Short-term solution: a mod that gives the player complete control over peace deals until the system is improved.

Countries should need to have a border to annex (outside of colonies at least) and democratic countries should hardly be able to conquer at all. They "liberate" and install a friendly democratic government or something but the USA annexing Italy for example is really stupid.

In defence of my homeland, the Netherlands had both the economical, logistical and military capacity to easily hold the entirety of Indonesia. Estonia, however, has not.

Anyways, I think the AI needs to act a bit more realistically when it comes to how they take territory and such. Perhaps, if that is doable, they should probably change attitudes for every country determined by size, claims and faction.

For example, the Allies would probably demand only a little bit of territory besides the return of cores to allied and neutral nations, together with a government change to democracy. The communists should puppet nations more likely aswell as demand a bit more concessions while the Axis should demand huge swathes of territory while smaller members could demand the return for cores (like an early axis Lithuania demanding back the lands they lost from Poland during the Polish-Lithuanian War some decades before the start of WW2).

The time for this complaint was when they announced the peace system, not on release. Sorry but tough ****

Plus I think its fine.

They never mentioned the peace system would contain such stupidity as Estonia.

Also, stop being such an apologist. Estonia puppeting Afghanistan is ludicrous. If this fine gentlemen @Sur was correct when he said:

Historical AI was turned off >.>

I'm willing to let it be. But if the AI does this in historical mode, then no, it's not fine. It's absolutely ridiculous, a little funny at first, but then it becomes quite said when Paradox is trying to market this game as the definitive WW2 strategy game on the market, the HOI we all have been waiting for, but Estonia is puppeting Afghanistan.

In reality AI minors should only try to take neighboring regions in peace deals to avoid border-gore and silliness like an Estonian puppet Afghanistan.
yeah, it's ahistorical and weird to create colonies, I mean could you imagine Japan demanding Hawaii from a broken US? Or absolute craziness like building a colonial empire?

Japan is a naval power and has the capacity to do that, unlike Estonia who has next to none. Comparing Japan taking Hawaii to Estonia taking Afghanistan is pure stupidity. Building a colonial empire is fine in a game like eu4, but in a period of 10 years, its really only plausible for majors like Italy or Japan.
