Seriously, would anyone (a dev, preferably) care to explain how it works, or whether it just doesn't in the demo?
I got the principle of the vote thing. However:
1) How is it determined which cardinal enter the Curia? It's definitely not the oldest (I actually I saw the youngest of them enter it once), nor the one with the most votes. Is it the one whose controller has the most papal influence?
2) Is there any way to get a notification with a pause when a new cardinal is available? I check regularly but each time I see a new one the AI has already dumped so much influence on him that I can't possibly beat it because of the cap on papal influence, even when my relations with the Pope are maxed, and thus I just have 50ish influence laying around that I can't never spend. In the 20 years of the demo, I was able to sway a cardinal only once, and I had one in the Curia to help. It's manageable in the beginning, but as game progresses the amounts of votes even on new cardinals becomes ridiculous. How are you supposed to beat this?
