So the Curators occasionally mention that there is a story behind the mural in the background of their interaction screen. They then mention that said story costs something like 14 quadrillion energy credits. I know this is a reference (though to what, I can't remember for the life of me), but that got me thinking. If you set planets to 5x, and built storage depots in every building slot on every planet, and used habitats and ringworlds everywhere you could to get more, and even used the storage building on every starbase, on a huge galaxy, you could probably actually store that many EC. You guys think that someone at paradox actually added an easter egg if someone is insane enough to actually do this where one could purchase that info? I know it sounds ludicrous, but we're talking about the guys who changed the Dathnak event chain to add a new option if your species is actually named Baldarak, so it might be possible. Your thoughts?

No you can't. Game engine uses 32 bit integer that cannot hold number greater than ~2M. Your cash would go zero or negative if you go furthur beyond.

Yeah, 14 quadrillion is well out of range, and that's the point.

And it's a reference to Star Control II. The Melnorme species lives out of its ships and gladly trades technologies and historical records for biological data, which they convert into credits. You can get a few scraps of information about them, specifically that color means a lot to them - but what, exactly, it means, you never learn. When you first agree to trade with them, though, the background of the Melnorme captain's bridge turns purple. They freely admit that there is significance behind the shift in color, but name the price for them to explain the significance: Twelve million credits, more than a player could get by stripping the entire game map.
