Kyran I think you should be careful by calling people Nazi's. Especially without a smiley, some can find that wery attacking.
And why would a Nazi have anything against swiss people?
The last thing I (I think I can say we here) want is the crew to brake up because of some stupid, small unagreements. I'm not trying to yell on you, just warn you from getting Pink Carded or even worse.

As to the language thing, most countries have good knowledge of English, but that doesn't mean that they speak english daily. As Gathenhielm says, most people can speak english, but no one talks it all the time uncept Aussie's, brits, americans, New zealanders and some few more.
When it comes to african countries, most people speak african languages such as Zulu and african (dunno how that's written).
The nation culture(s) should be the national language(s) wich are spoken in the respective countries.
There are many who speaks english in Africa, and maybe the nation language in many countries should be English, but not only English.
There are also many white people in Africa, but they aren't close to be as many as the natives that live there.

There are no language called Swiss, so why call it that? It makes no sense at all...

And one thing that must be totally clear:

There are Languages, not Cultures!!!

Why must we change culture to language?
And if you really want to change it that way you have to change the american culture to english.
The really big problem is that culture was created for the original game as to point out the miss of national states. No when almost every country is a national state (except from Russia and a few more) that every conutry need there own culture maybe except the swedish speaking finns in Finland and swedes and maybe some of the arabic states.

Then you got the problem with official languages.
A few exampels:

Benin official language france I doubt that the people only speak france

Mocambique official language France I doubt that most part of the people speak france

Mauritius Official language english I doubt that most of the people speak english

Niger official language france I doubt....

I might have wrong on this but that causes the country to not have the same culture as the provinces and that causes them troubles they dont have.

countries can have several cultures, so that wouldn't be any problem. Also I doubt that many nations have french (an example) as the only national language. In that case it would make trouble. Even here in Norway we have two (I dunno if lappish is one, if they are, we have three)!

I'm just afraid that we'll have a huge mess by doing this, especially the Swiss thing since it would deter the bigger countries from invading it in the beginning for cash and other good stuffs.

But since Switzerland is so rich that they'll be able to stand against the invaders (atleast for a while). Also, I'm pretty sure that the AI's will be made less agresssive.

Oh, and about that Nazi thingie, it's the Mod and Admins that don't like people calling each other that, i really don't care, it's not illegal to be a Nazi (atleast not here in Norway).
Anyway, I don't think we should discuss that anymore; AFAIK the Mod's don't like Nazi things been discussed. We end that little case right there.

And this : Over half the people speak Fon. Yoruba, Mina, Bariba and Dendi are the other important languages. French is the official language. Beside the French language, English is necessarily one of the two foreign languages taught in secondary schools.

Heres the language situation in most african countries, with the exception of Somalia and the north african countries. After becoming indepent from European Powers, theu retained the european language as the official one, mainly because the countries werent split along ethnic lines, and so therefore were home to dozens of languages. So really in most of these countries few people speak the european language, with the expetion of South Africa. So the culture in these provinces shouldnt be European.

The only Basque province should be Navarra. The famous Basque Country is in fact in the EU province of Cantabria, but it is only a tiny part of it (most of said province is made up by Cantabria and Northen Old Castile, the birthplaces of Spanish language). Gerona is a part of Catalonia (it is a separated province for gameplay reasons, I guess).

Funny to c whether u discussing whether belgium should be dutch or french, the actual situation is i think is that they're both.

Flandres (antwerpen) is for sure dutch, brussels (brabant in EU2) is both, speaking dutch and french there. Actually the majority of the belgium ppl speak Dutch and thers a strong 'conflict' between the flemish (dutch) and walloniacs (french) They often don't even speak french (or refuse to ) when they're dutch speaking and vice versa.

Also i think Artois should be added to belgium since belgium is smaller then it actually is containing just antwerp and brussels.
