I'll probably have to make a PB+SWMH compatible version anyways, but it'll only include the new portrait sets and such, and not any of the new cultures added in CPR (because, well, SWMH already handles all that madness and it'd be pointless in my opinion to try to mess around with SWMH as I don't really play with SWMH so I don't know what the effects would be). ETA would probably be tomorrow after Meneth releases the new version of PB.

Eh, I like keeping things close to vanilla, including the map. Which was why I chose PB in the first place - I mean I originally quit PB after the first try because I thought it changed vanilla too much!

Well, except for Africa. Africa needs a desperate overhaul.

But anyway don't worry, as it appears SWMH and PB are allies now, I'll happily provide something for SWMH fans - well, at least for the PB+SWMH version.

Dun worry, you'll be able to get the portrait improvements (which is 1/2 the mod anways, this mod is 1/2 portraits and 1/2 cultures, and since SWMH already pretty much has some a lot of massive changes to vanilla's culture set-up I won't touch that) so you can see all your beautiful SWMH people ruling over all those SWMH places I still can't pronounce even with a decent knowledge of IPA.

Alright, my ETA for CPR will be Monday as of now, as I'll be spending Sunday working on adapting the latest PB changes to VIET and updating VIET itself.

Anyhow, a brief summary of planned changes, once more, for 1.5.0 (note that this will not be savegame compatible... but given that the previous version of CPR was for pre-1.09, I doubt most will have to worry about that):

  • Integrating GeorgALuckba's mediterranean male portraits
  • Turks, Crimean Tatars, and Azeris have a unique ‘turkishgfx’ portrait set, combining a Mediterranean appearance, Mongol hair, and Muslim clothes
  • Maghrebis, Levatines, Persians, and Kurds have a unique ‘persiangfx’ portrait set, combining a Mediterranean appearance and Muslim hair/clothes
  • Customization options for the Berbers as well as all cultures using Mediterranean portraits
  • Icelandic culture for both vanilla and PB-compatible versions
  • Sudanese Arabic melting pot can be triggered from 1200 onwards (rather than 1300 onwards)
  • Option to replace all Russian portraits and Russian DLC-dependent portraits with the default Western portraits (as some users of both CPR and VIET have reported issues with them, myself included)

Latin? No problem. Germanic? Easy. Hungarian? erm...

At least the people representing those unpronounceable words will look prettier.

Well, okay, probably not the Hungarian so much as CPR still relies on the female Russian portraits for them. I mean I don't mind the Russian portraits but it would have been nice if there were some more non-ugly women in the mix.

What about an orthodox bishops clothing, will it be the same?

Orthodox Bishop clothing is still the same as in vanilla, I believe. This mod's policy is not to utilize new portrait/face/clothing art (except for GeorgALuckba's mediterranean faces improvements, which are a minor tweak anyways) because 1) it apparently does slow down performance on low-end computers; and 2) part of this mod's design philosophy is to keep things similar to vanilla, as an alternative for people who don't want to use BLC and Crak'd's work.

(Taking a lot longer to update this to 1.091 and merge all the changes then I realized - the previous released version was for 1.09 after all! Thankfully I have plenty of free time tomorrow.)

Anyhow, there will be four versions: normal CPR, PB compatible, PB+SWMH compatible, and SWMH compatible. The latter two will not include the new cultures (since SWMH already takes care of that a bit too well), but will include CPR's new portrait sets.

Is this mod entirely incorporated into VIET, or do you need CPR and VIET to get all the new portraits?

It's incorporated into both the vanilla and PB-compatible versions of the Immersion module of VIET. If you're not using the Immersion module of VIET, but still want CPR's features, then you'll have to also download CPR then and use it alongside the other modules.

Updated to 1.091! Way better utilization of Mediterranean portraits! Icelandic Culture! SWMH and PB+SWMH compatible versions! Customization options! And more!


Alright folks, CPR is finally updated for the latest CKII patch. A side note: the SWMH version can be used with SWMH or PB+SWMH (note that it does not contain the new cultures from CPR, only the portrait sets).

Changelog for 1.5.0:

- Updated to 1.091
- Added SWMH/SWMH+PB compatible version
- Fixed MesoAmerican graphic culture not showing up in-game
- Fixed Pommeranian culture not having any dynasties
- Cleaned code in various parts
- Added Icelandic culture for both vanilla and PB-compatible versions
- Turks, Crimean Tatars, and Azeris have a unique ‘turkishgfx’ portrait set, combining a Mediterranean appearance, Mongol hair, and Muslim clothes
- Maghrebis, Levatines, Persians, and Kurds have a unique ‘persiangfx’ portrait set, combining a Mediterranean appearance and Muslim hair/clothes
- Integrated GeorgALuckba's mediterranean male portraits
- Added Customization options for the Berbers, cultures using Mediterranean portraits, and replacement of all Russian portraits and Russian DLC-dependent portraits with the default Western portraits (as some users of both CPR and VIET have reported issues with them, myself included)
- Removed landed_titles.txt
- Sudanese Arabic melting pot can be triggered from 1200 onwards (rather than 1300 onwards)
- Added new dynasties for the Chagatai and Tatars
- Added event where non-adult children also convert to culture when a ruler assimilates
- All cultures using bulgargfx now either use easternslavicgfx or steppegfx instead, as bulgargfx appears to be buggy for some reason (hopefully this is only temporary; the bulgargfx code is still in the files for now)
- Added new “Of Placename” localization for Greek, various Finno-Ugric, Mongol, Cuman, Pecheneg, various Slavic, and Nahuatl characters (credits to jordarkelf)


Also, please note that since this is the first update to 1.091, as well as the first update to include SWMH and PB+SWMH compatible versions, there may be a number of bugs and so forth! Please don't hesitate to report if there's something wrong, particularly with the SWMH or PB+SWMH compatible versions. While I have tested to make sure there are no serious issues, one can never be 100% certain.


As for my future plans, I don't really have anything in mind. Other than integrating any new portrait DLC that come out I think CPR's more or less achieved what it's set out to do with VIET handling the stuff I really want to work on. Maybe I'll make a CKII+ compatible version for you CKII+ fans if I have time (but like the SWMH compatible version it'll only include the portraits, not the cultures).

Could I know wich version is compatible with SWMH+PB?
The SWMH .mod, the Project Balance .mod or the normal .mod?
