Culture/Character help please

Hi!

I'd like to create a new culture for my game. That means adding new names to cultures and finding character names.

However, whenever I change anything in the names in the excel file, it says that something is wrong with the file, and if I ignore that and save anyways, the game crashes.

How can I make it work, and how do I crop in another culture, and how do I make room for new character names?

don't edit the file with xcel use notepad instead it will prevent the game to crash
that will solve first part of your problem

You can't add new cultures, you can only re-use the existing ones.

Not really sure what you mean here, but you can f.e. merge the Norman and French culture-tags together and then re-use either the French or Norman tag for some other culture.

No of course not, you can add all the names that you want.

Now it has changed all the Eastern slavic(Serbian) cultured people to nubian, when I try to make them Southern slavic(Croatian).

What is the problem there. In all lists both the province cultures and the character cultures are listed as "Southern slavic, which it should be. Heeelp!

In the game files you must use this name for Southern slavic culture, southslavic and this is how Eastern slavic should be written in the gamefiles, easternslavic


So in character_names it is


easternslavic;female;Voislava
easternslavic;male;Aldimir

and

southslavic;female;Viola
southslavic;male;Aldimir

EDIT
Make also sure that there are no empty-lines in the character_names file. So if you f.e. have this

saxon;male;Wiglaf
saxon;male;Wihtred
saxon;male;Wulfhere
saxon;male;Wulfnoth

southslavic;female;Adriana
southslavic;female;Agata
southslavic;female;Angela
southslavic;female;Anna
southslavic;female;Beloslava
southslavic;female;Branka
southslavic;female;Camelia

then the game will not recognize the names after the empty one and will give all characters who have that culture a charactername from the none_culture tag.
