Culture change?

Hi
I had a long pause in CK2.
Now playing again with the latest expansion / patch.

So one question come in mind.
I play as an italian count in southern italy.
I am catholic/italian.
most of the provinces are orthodox/greek.
I remember there was something when i convert the proving to catholic the culture won't change because greek and italian are the same group???
Don't know for sure...

So do i have to wait for a culture change to convert the religion or not?
Has anything changed from culture change?
What is the best way?

Culture change was changed in a recent patch. Much easier now, if you stay italien your counties will convert, just a matter of time.

Sorry, but I don't think that any of this ever applied.

Greek is not in the same group in Italian. Those languages/cultures are very different.

You just have to wait for the settlers event to fire. If your ruler has high stewardship the chance is increased. A popup comes up which says, that you are bringing in settlers from the homeland and then the province will flip to your own culture.

So it is now possible to convert islands like the British isles to your own culture, without the need to wait for the settlers from home event to fire, if u just stay your own culture and wait long enough?

No, you'll have to wait for the event to fire. It just fires more often.
