Hi, just a quick questions, what factors affect the spread of the rulers culture my provinces, and what can be done to help it along?

Give more power to burghers and nobility

Built roads and harbours

And there are many other factors, but these are the easiest to do yourself.

I was a bit lazy :)

These are the triggers for event 9007

Culture can spread from one province to another province

Triggers
1. Both provinces must either be in the same realm or in the same demesne

2. The source-province must have the realm-culture (= culture of the ruler of the realm)

3. The destination-province must not have the realm-culture

4. Destination-province must have roadnet or civilian harbour

5. Source-province must have have roadnet or civilian harbour

6. Both provinces must not have the heretic trait

7. The ruler(s) of the two provinces must not be at war

8. The ruler of the realm, must also not be at war

9. The ruler(s) of both province must not be heretic or excommunicated

10. The ruler of the realm, must not be heretic or excommunicated

Here is a complete list of all the modifiers from the Cultural Conversion Event. Modifiers > 1 increase the MTTH (Mean Time To Happen), modifiers < 1 decrease the MTTH

EDIT

Uploaded a higher resolution map

And since a lot of people as this question, I sticky it (though nobody reads stickies ;) )

Are there any cultures that can't be changed?

No

But at least Norman culture can't spread since there is no province in the game with that culture. There are only, Norman characters

thats weird, since I just had norman culture spread to one of my provinces (arques)

If I am correct you are using my mod ?

Which does have Norman culture in the provinces of Normandy

Difference between red and green routes?

Thight might be the case yes :) And thanks for that, without it my de Hauteville rulers would still be ruling berber land :)

Is it possible to transform a Muslim/Arab province in the Middle East(like Jerusalem, for example), into Catholic/French if I hold it long enough? Since it's landlocked, those trade routes from the map above don't work, I suppose.

It is my project at the moment to make the middle east greek orthodox. They're mostly orthodox but no greeks yet...

Making them catholic is possible, since there are province-based conversion events for religion.

Making them French is a bit harder, you will have to figure out a route of provinces from a Frankish/French province to Jerusalem. Which isn't impossible to do but very unrealistic to achiev.

The best way to achieve that is to go through Venice, so first make a patch from a Frankish province Venice and then have Venice convert to Frankish culture. Then from Venice it can spread through a trade route to the Middle East

Thanks!
So it's much easier to turn them Italian or Greek (since there are direct routes from Italy and Constantinople).

For Greek, Cyprus, Crete, Syracuse and Antioch also have that culture, and good connections. For spreading, good provinces to pick up include Tripoli and Damascus (and Sicily, so you can work on Tunisia as well.)
