Well, I haven't looked into this one properly yet, but I'll just mention it here so that the community knows it:

I was playing brazil, had no major problems (no crashes, etc..) . Then the "Bitter Peace" event occured and the game locked. Eventually I discovered that a pop-up box had appeared BEHIND the game, with an error message. I can't remember exactly what it was, but the key words were "database mismatch".

I thought this might have to do with the fact that I was playing the game on my laptop which, although it's a 1.1Ghz celeron with 256Mb RAM, was clearing struggling to run the game in "extremely fast" speed. So at first I thought the game just crashed because it tried to do too much at once. I re-started the game and loaded up my save and kept the speed a bit lower, but it crashed again. Then I figured it might be my laptop, so I installed the game on my 1.73Ghz AMD Athlon XP with 512Mb RAM and let her rip. But it crashed again... same message.

I have now started a new game, again as Brazil, but on my desktop. I wander if the game will crash again. For the record, I'm using the UK edition with patch 1.03b installed.

I'll keep you folks posted.

Well, on my desktop everything went perfect. Very strange. Maybe the amount of extra memory or the extra CPU power does have something to do with it. (my "too much at once" theory).

I've also gotten this message. Twice, using the 1.3b North American edition on a 750MHz laptop with 256mb. Both times I was playing as a minor power (one as Colombia one as Sweden), but I couldn't say if that is causing the issue.

As a matter of fact, come to think of it, all but one of the 10 or so CTD's I've experienced have been as minor powers.
