CTD when I try to load a save game

I have a problem with one of my save games (and the auto saves). I had a ctd when I was playing as Russia, and when I try to load the save game it just crashes to desktop and the same thing happens when I try the auto save. But what I find strange is that it works when I try to load it with another nation, so the save game file cannot be corrupted. But what can be the problem?

System specs are:
Windows XP
AMD Athlon XP 1900+
Epox 8K3A motherboard
GeForce 3 graphics card.

I am playing with Eu2 may beta patch.

Something may be messed up with Russia in the save, try and play past the date it normally crashes, then switch back to Russia. It may work.
