It always crashed. Rather than settling that, they set it to just restart apparently.
After patch 1.14, when I exist the game to the main menu then the game crashes to the desktop but relaunches automatically. Why?
Its not a crash, its a complete reset of databases, instead of the former partial ones that always created bugs.
A splash screen saying "reloading the game" or something would be nice instead of the CTD (like a secondary exectuable that acts as an ancor/hull for the actual game)
What are those "benefits"? I hope you are not talking about Multiplayer.Yes, I'd recommend managing your annoyance, because the benefits of this change are far more in your favor than perhaps you're letting yourself perceive.
After playing the game or even viewing the map/selecting countries/changing the date etc and exiting back to the menu, you could get weird... things happening. little bits of stuff that didn't get properly reset. What are those "benefits"? I hope you are not talking about Multiplayer.
I'd say I got the CTD about every other time I tried to exit to the menu (pre-1.14).

A lot of people? I am sorry but last I read was that the majority does not play multiplayer but singleplayer.I am talking about multiplayer. As well as loading saves, and general things such as that.
You may not like multiplayer, but it's an important aspect of the game for many people. So perhaps the change is not massively beneficial to you, though Paradox needs to consider the needs of all its users. Would you not consider something beneficial that helps a lot of people, if not necessarily yourself?
Sorry to hear that.Mine has been crashing to desktop for ages, it mostly happens when I go back to main menu or load up a save mid-game.
To clarify, crashing on resetting gamestate was a rare bug that occured with a small number of players, and they apparently decided to fix it by making the game exit and restart instead of trying to reset the gamestate.
I mean, it's not like you didn't have to do that manually anyway to get a good checksum, but it's just so... ugly a fix.
